“Whatever you do”
Last week was bustling with distractedness at the Oregon State Fair. However, we’re quite relieved to be resuming a different kind of distracted at home on our farm. The finale was super humbling and we’re beyond thankful for the opportunity we’ve been graced with for this season. Regardless, we know our service has a much further and eternal reaching purpose than just the sheep themselves, and we’re glad we had the opportunity to connect with others in that way last week. Still waiting on a few more photos to trickle in, but we’re gonna just go with what we have. Public acknowledgements always make us nervous because we know inevitably, we’ll forget someone. (please know you’re appreciated if we’ve forgot to mention you)
Scott Culver for filling the role of sheep superintendent and pulling off a massive task yet again. Caitlyn Schoen for enduring all the farm chores at home and squeezing in some photography. Jason Heeg for your insight, critique and encouragement of judging so many sheep. Tiffany Deaken for your glowing face and photography skills. Cathy Martin and Briar Lane Texels for all the pictures & video, and helping make the OSF Texel Show become what it is, and all the work put into the Jr. Show. Andy LaFramboise for your willingness to help with the Border Leicester show and reluctantly heading of the champion ram, lol wink-wink! Coleen Smith for being there and helping with the Border Leicester show (love you). Shae Ferguson for your willingness to be thrust into the Wool Breed Supreme Show. Rolland Aschim for making the Texels look great in the ring. The Pegg Girls for helping with the Texel Show, while simultaneously showing your own Texels. Addison Cook for crossing over to the Open Show Ring and getting some Texel show time. Cameron Hartman for all your labor in helping us get our sheep settled in and many other ongoing chores. Mary Jo Haslem for your sorting and judging some lovely fleeces Mary Smallman, Denali Bosco and Laurel Stone Apple Creek Merinos for heading up no small task in coordinating the Wool Show and making it look so delightful!

Wrapping up 2026 Oregon State Fair tomorrow. As usual we don't have all our ringshot and backdrop photos, hope to share more later🤷‍♀️. Regardless the sheep and fleeces have done well. Meat breed supreme show tomorrow.
Although a small class Border Leicester's ended up with champion ram, champion ewe, reserve champion ram, young flock and pair, along with best fleeced ram and best fleeced young flock.
Texels had an impressive show with 45 head in the class, all of exceptional quality rendering judge Jason Heeg the burden of sorting some great animals. The yearling ewe class alone had 15 lovely ladies in it. We managed to pull out the reserve champion ram, 1st place jr ram lamb, champion ewe, 1st place pair of yearling ewes, 1st place best pair, with Briar Lane breaking the tie for premier exhibitor with their younng flock.
Fleeces earned some high placings as well with a champion Border Leicester fleece, champion Texel lamb fleece and champion meat breed sheep.
