YCR's primary mission is to develop pest-resistant and disease-resistant hop brands with strong commercial qualities. This process begins in the lab. Every step taken, from the lab to the greenhouses, ensures that we are providing the best possible product for our farmers so that you can enjoy delicious beer.

Last week, we hosted 75 breweries over 5 days for YCH's POD Selection. "Project Open Door" is a new program designed to allow small, up-and-coming breweries to experience the same rigorous selection process as larger brewers. They also got to see our hop breeding process from start to finish!

GLOBALG.A.P recently widened its reach for hop certification and because YCR utilizes Integrated Farm Assurance for Plant Propagation Material, that makes us the first hop propagation facility to be PPM-certified in the United States!

A message from our CEO, Jason Perrault: "Receiving this certification is incredibly good news for our organization and the hop industry. Being certified at such a high level proves that we’re doing things right by our team, our product, our customers, and the soil that supplies us with our product. We are all so proud to be held in such high regard with other businesses of high integrity.”

We'd also like to shout out Kyle Charvet for pulling this off. He was the core project manager for getting our facility certified with the help of Kaylin Thomas, Jayce Avalos, Derek Hockaday-Zimmermann, and Fabian Garza. Great job team!

YCR was extremely happy to host YCH’s Distributor Day at our facility. This is a time dedicated solely to Yakima Chief's partners across the globe, filled with educational sessions and hands-on hop sensory training. YCR also had the opportunity to educate distributors on where the initial hop efforts begin in the supply chain... right here!

Class of 2022 Quality Assurance Interns! Our goal in carrying on this program every year is to help build the next generation of young professionals who are dedicated to continuing the development of quality products in the hop industry. They put in hundreds of miles in the hop fields during the summer to ensure that we continue to produce the purest and highest quality hops on the market. And as the saying goes, the best fertilizer is a farmer's footprints in the field.
