The 2026 Halliday Wine Companion was released today and we're over the moon that our wines have once again been recognised among the nation’s finest, with our 2023 La Maison Pinot Noir and 2023 Chardonnay both rated with 96 points. A huge congratulations to all of the varietal winners at the awards show last night!

Today is International Pinot Noir Day and nowhere does Pinot quite like Tasmania, where cool-climate precision meets remarkable site expression.

Our Chief Winemaker Liam McElhinney says: "Tasmania is a Pinot Noir playground. Across the island, subtle shifts in soil, aspect and microclimate create an extraordinary range of styles: from silky and perfumed to deep and structured. Every site has a voice and Pinot Noir is the perfect grape to let it sing."

Whether you’re drawn to the silky textures of Derwent Valley fruit, the savoury spice of Coal River Valley, or the bright energy from the east coast, Pinot Noir Day is your invitation to explore them all. We hope you join us with a glass in hand tonight!

Located on the banks of the Derwent River, our 3-hectare vineyard, planted in 1986, is home to some of the oldest Pinot Noir vines in the state. Densely planted and low-yielding, they produce fruit with depth, finesse and unmistakable Tasmanian character.

From our vineyard to your glass, each bottle is a true expression of place – refined, age-worthy and unmistakably Tasmanian.

We’re thrilled to announce the release of the 2022 Lowestoft Jacoben Pinot Noir outside of a Lowestoft tasting pack. Crafted from a single vineyard in Tasmania’s Lower Derwent Valley, this is a wine of precision, poise and remarkable depth.

Awarded Best in Show and 97 points at the prestigious 2024 Decanter World Wine Awards, Tyson Stelzer (95 points) praised its Burgundian longevity, writing: “This is Pinot Noir scaffolded for the long haul, with an intricately engineered framework of superfine tannins and poised natural acidity.”

We are overjoyed that our 2023 Pinot Noir and 2023 La Maison Pinot Noir each took home Gold and 95 points at the Decanter World Wine Awards today in London.

Our Chief Winemaker Liam McElhinney said: “My team and I are immensely proud to see La Maison gaining international recognition. It is a great source of excitement to be judged on the global stage, alongside many great wines produced from similarly passionate producers. We continue to be inspired by the Lowestoft vineyard, and everything it delivers us.”

To celebrate this achievement – and following the Pinot Noir Trophy win at the National Wine Show last week – we are excited to officially release the 2023 La Maison Pinot Noir to the public today. This wine has quickly become one of Australia’s most sought after Pinot Noirs, and the 2023 vintage is no exception.

These awards are a wonderful validation of our winemaking and viticulture teams’ passion and commitment to growing truly world-class wines.”

Vintage 2025 is underway at Lowestoft, and the conditions have been perfect – sun-drenched days and cool nights, ideal for crafting wines with elegance, purity, and bright acidity. The sparkling wine parcels are picked, and we’re now focused on Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, and select Pinot Noir along the East Coast, where warmer conditions have developed beautiful flavours.

The first ferments are filling the winery with fresh fruit and floral aromas, reminding us why we love this craft. Our harvest team is a global mix, bringing talent from France, Argentina, Italy, the USA, and New Zealand – the smoko room is buzzing with energy!

Our two 2022 Single Vineyard release wines have received incredible reviews in the 2025 Haliday Wine Companion and, to celebrate, we are pleased to extend our Single Vineyard Vertical Case offer.

Our 2022 Single Vineyard Glengarry Pinot Noir was awarded 97 points: "It shows a wonderful sense of space and composure with lacy, mineral acidity providing luminescence, form and cadence, gliding savoury and true to its destination."

Our Decanted 'Best in Show' winner, the 2022 Single Vineyard Jacoben was awarded 95 points: "Lithe and sapid on the palate with a touch of sour cherry, pillowy tannins and a spicy, complex finish that flows on for a pleasing amount of time."

We are so proud that our 2022 La Maison Pinot Noir was awarded 98 Points (the equal highest score to Pinot Noir of the Year) and featured in the ‘2025 Halliday Top Rated: Pinot Noir’ list.

Tasting member Dave Brookes said: "Boom! You'll probably have to scurry around to secure some bottles of this, as it won the coveted Jimmy Watson Trophy at the 2023 Melbourne Royal Wine Awards, but it is worth the hunt. It's a beautiful wine with a brilliant ruby hue in the glass and aromas of ripe dark cherry, dried cranberry and raspberry coulis underlined by hints of souk-like spice, amaro herbs from the whole-bunch component, pomegranate, tea leaves, char siu, dried citrus rind, sage and Peking duck. Wonderfully composed and silken on the palate with pitch-perfect fruit expression and bunch tannins; textural and complex with a lacy, mineral acid cadence and a finish that lingers for a long time with exotic spice and pure red and dark fruits. Such a beauty."

Not only that but our Chief Winemaker Liam McElhinney was shortlisted for the 2025 Halliday Winemaker of the Year! Congratulations to Liam and his team on these exceptional results.
