If you are anything like me, you would rather buy your groceries from your neighbours than from oversees!

I have spent 15+ years making food in Grey County, and selling it at farmers markets, local store, and delivering to peoples houses.

Now we are bringing you a full line up of groceries sourced from farmers we know and trust.

Want to play a part in making this happen, at the same time as getting amazing food out of the deal?

We are still renovating our store space, but we are opening up farm memberships for pre-sale for use Online, or when the Farm Store is open!

If you buy our local honey, cold pressed coconut oil, or fresh milled flour, you already know that we prioritize quality.

1. They lay more eggs than chickens. Even commercial egg layers.

2. The eggs are larger, more nutrient dense, and taste the same or better than chicken eggs

3. They are not regulated. That means it much easier to sell farm fresh duck eggs to the end user

4. They are easier to manage. In my experience they are more hardy, and easier to look after than chickens.

The downside to ducks is that they don’t thrive in commercial style barns … but who wants that anyways.

At the Stranks Family Farms store we value organically raised, whole foods, produced locally.

What does this look like on a practical level?

Some things like Dairy and Eggs, we cannot just buy from our neighbours (due to regulations) so we have to trust the Organic certification process to know that they are farmed in a healthy and sustainable way.

Some things like Honey cannot be certified organic, because our beehives would need to be 3km from any conventional farm or source of chemicals. (We use no antibiotics, and only organic acids, and organic essential oil treatments)

However when it comes to fresh produce, we will prioritize buying from farmers we know and trust, (no chemical fertilizers, GMO’s, or sprays) and fill the gaps with Organic Ontario grown produce.
