A dry afternoon, around 4:15 a clap of thunder and dry lightening and moments later smoke on the Beaufort Range. Not long after Mosaic and BC wildfire Service were on it. Thank you! We always worry about our friend's, neighbours and community, drought and fire becomes what we anticipate. We are grateful for the response. Meanwhile back at the farm the animal family is oblivious to our worry. Allie is in the alley...and the garden is bursting at the seams. We are busy planting for fall and pulling our vegetables to store for winter.
Our market is open each Saturday from 10 - 2. Be safe out there!

Farmers, ranchers and community members all over this province are helping one another through some devastating drought and fire. Help support our farmers by buying direct and Buy BC! Ask for BC products in grocers we can all do better to support local!
Here on the farm we can't help but reflect on the dry, not like other parts of the province! Always time to pull together as communities and as a province to help one another!
The water buffalo feel the same way and wonder what would happen if our farm and forest were on fire? Water storge for us is crucial, capturing that rain that fell all year is critical! We love our farm, animals and community!
Our market is open 10 - 2 each Saturday, come and have a visit!

As BC lives through another year of catastrophic fires and drought, water on the farm is very much on our minds. We store the water that falls as rain in massive ponds every year. This water is used for washing down our dairy parlour, garden irrigation and livestock water. So, every morning at 6 we start our watering the gardens while we do the barn chores. This morning we noticed a lot of water on the livestock path and Ione was having a blast! After a huge leak -- that meant digging up and fixing the pipe! At least someone was having fun.
This evening the smokey sky makes for gorgeous sunsets.
Be safe out there. Our market is open each Saturday from 10 - 2.

Another month closes and a new one begins, not sure where the days go. We were so grateful for some real rain at the beginning of this week. The water buffalo dig holes with their horns to create wallows. The herd big and small enjoyed some special mud spa days. Gouda even got into the action! This evening some of the mothers and babes enjoy a bit of grazing before they head in. The sky is dark and the garden full.

The farm is open each Saturday from 10 - 2 and the market is full of water buffalo goodies!

A busy baby week! On Saturday Luna had a boy "Lou", then Tuesday it was Tess, a really big girl "Tabby" and on Wednesday Ayria had a girl "Allie". All mama's and babies are just fine. It is still hot and dry and we are looking forward to cooler days for our herd.

The garden is growing and we see changes each week, taller crops, new plantings and more flowers. We love this time of year! Our old Gravenstein apple tree is bursting. 23 years ago when we arrived - this tree (and many others) were growing on their side (black bears) brutal pruning each year we still can't make it stand up straight -- so we compensate! Be safe out there and enjoy the beauty around you. We are open each Saturday from 10 - 2

On July 11 we had a wonderful rain, this week brought back the dry and warm; yesterday more showers. The forest and fields are still dry so we are grateful for coolness and showers. But not only us - its the garden - and of course the water buffalo!
Way too much cuteness around here with all the babies. Gouda only 10 days old is growing like a w**d and so is Daisy (and all the babies)! We are open 10 - 2 each Saturday.

A dry July but cooler weather. Baby Gouda arrived this Wednesday to Mama Gabby. A beautiful girl with long legs and jet black! Gabby is a wonderful mama, meanwhile Boots figures Luna is next for her baby. But before baby taking time to play. Luna is very patient!

Happy July! The water buffalo are ready for the FIFA World Cup match! Are you? Go Canada!

Meanwhile back at the farm it is dry but our water buffalo are enjoying a bit cooler weather. Daisy was our visitor as we were milking the other morning, not a great deal of help but cuteness was evident! Our pasture is dry but we are managing to keep everyone happy. Janey now a month old is growing like a w**d and so is the garden - each day. Our favourite "Annabelle" hydrangea is doing its magic, just blooming and looking awesome!
Our market is open each Saturday from 10 - 2

All right brace yourselves this is the end of June, school is out and summer has started... as farmers we are so fortunate that we have feed in for the months ahead. Some of our girls play with their food, but we love them all including Dilly who is one of those characters. Now she has a daughter - Daisy and we are seeing some common quirks!
It was wonderful to get a little moisture, and the land needs it for sure. The garden is growing and so is the herd! Our wonderful families of barn swallows are bursting at the seams - can you say housing crisis? Our market is open each Saturday from 10 - 2!
