Raising Jupiter is a very humbling experience. I realize as her mom, the most important thing I can do is to show up for her, each and every moment. She has a very clear plan for her days and she needs an adult to help her meet each and every goal.

Yesterday it was a lemonade stand, today she was recalling a plan of hers: to hide, completely, in a pile of leaves 🍃

When she saw the red maple leaves upon the ground she knew this was her moment, but how, oh how, was she going to get enough in a pile.

She picked some up by hand, tried gathering them in her dress, but this just wouldn’t do, she would need a lot of leaves.

Hesitant to help, not really wanting to play in leaves today, I watched her formulate a plan to get a shovel, or a bag, or a container of some sort… she’d go to the car and find something.

But then, I realized, it was one of those moments. And I was much more capable of moving large amounts of leaves than she was.

So I helped her. And she was so happy to check this one off her list.

And so, today I saw again, the importance of seizing the moment.

Do not be left wanting. Do not forfeit your goals due to time restraints, or lack of motivation.

Don’t miss your chance to be completely hidden in a pile of leaves while visitors walk by unaware of your perfectly concealed self.

Whatever your pile of leaves is, today, make sure you fully dive in. Indulge in your passion.

The world is our playground and you have just one life to live. Live it to your fullest.

Today, choose to live like Jupiter 🪐

When life gives you lemons, make lemonade 🍋 ☀️ ⛰️

Today was the day of Jupiter’s lemonade stand, which she’s been asking to do for a while and we feared we were heading into winter and needed to get it done soon before she missed out altogether.

Our 5 year old daughter, Jupiter, tends to impart wisdom on everyone around, her tiny self makes a huge impact.

Upon arriving to the beach, she realized Mom had been right, it was cold, and nobody was around.

She said: “Can we just make lemonade anyhow, for ourselves?”

So we did! Freshly squeezed, lemonade, made with honey and no sugar.

It was the best lemonade we’ve ever tasted, all her customers (her family and her) agreed!

And today we learned that every moment is an opportunity to thrive, to enjoy what’s in front of you, and that the only ones left wanting are those who didn’t jump at the opportunity to do what they really wanted.

Thanks Jupiter 🙏 we had a blast at your lemonade stand!!

Our dog food pickup and delivery was successful this time, no broken truck from sliding off the side of the mountain again 😂

Jupiter came with me, and with such a huge road trip we try our hardest to incorporate a really awesome playground, because when you live remotely they are far and few in between.

Jupiter likes to make the most out of everything she does!

My daughter sleepily wished farewell to her kitty another time, the final kittens to go home.

She gave them all the love in the world then agreed, reluctantly, to let someone else have a turn.

Someone asked me in a minimizing way:

Are you ready to homestead in class?

My answer:

NO SIR !!

Not even in the littlest.

I prefer to wake up and do a sniff test to see if I need a refresh of deodarant.

I change into town clothes inside of my car so I don’t bring the barn smell to my kids dance class.

I like to wear dresses without panties so I can p*e wherever I like.

And I live in a shack we threw together with whatever we could find.

No, I don’t wish to homestead in class. I actually homestead so that I can leave the class system and just live a frivolous life of joyful dancing 💃 on the top of a mountain.

You can keep your class, and no offence to those who are classy, but me, I’m just a human having a human experience, and it’s a great one, so I have no plans on changing anything at this point in time 😎

Let’s talk off grid survival for a moment. The reality is, TP is not for everyone!

Don’t get me wrong, we keep some nice, natural, easy to compost 🧻 for messy jobs 💩, but when you just want a quick p*e and don’t wish to contaminate your outhouse, what do you use to wipe up with?

Mullein?
Thimble Berry leaves?

Because we know 🧻 is unsightly and a pain to deal with when you really just want to pop a squat and go.

One of my new absolute favourites is Falsebox.

I use the whole plant haha 😂 like a bidet in a way, with all this fall rain.

What do you think, could you use plants to wipe with?

A bunch of avocados were going too ripe and so were some tomatoes and so this morning we ate avocado toast, with diced tomatoes atop over easy eggs. Some chives in the eggs and oregano in the tomatoes. A touch of salt and taco seasoning in the avocado and I had 2 happy children this morning!!

— which is a bonus because while o don’t like to put names to things, if I had to I’d say my youngest was expecting lately and I’m glad she not only tried but actually ate it!

That’s a super win.

Now the girls are learning and playing.
