🐾 Livestock Guardian Puppies Available — Working Homes Only 🐾
We have a limited number of LGD puppies available from an excellent
working line here at Caspian Acres.
Please read carefully before reaching out: These pups are bred to
guard livestock. They are not pets and will develop serious
behavioural issues if placed in a home without livestock to watch
over. We are only placing them on working farms.
Meet the parents:
🔹 Dad — Ootka is a purebred Akbash who has been part of our farm for
nearly a decade. He is exceptionally intelligent and independent and has watched over our poultry and rams. We kept three of Ootka's last batch of puppies and they are excellent LGD's watching our sheep and poultry.
🔹 Mom — Galya is a purebred Great Pyrenees. She's new to the farm and has an incredible temperament and is a true homebody — she sticks close to her livestock and home base. She came to us from a working farm where she never hurt a bird or even ate an egg. She is currently working with our poultry.
About the pups: Before they leave us, all puppies will be introduced
to a wide range of stock — poultry, sheep, cattle, and water buffalo.
Our guardian dogs work with a calm, defensive style: watching,
deterring, and protecting against coyotes, bears, cougars, eagles,
owls, and more, rather than chasing or roaming.
Important to know: LGDs do their best work in pairs, and ideally you'd
want two or more unrelated guardians on your property. We currently
run two siblings with our sheep and they do a wonderful job together —
though it took a bit more training than usual to get them there.
Something to keep in mind when planning your pack.
