When industry experts told me to swap my core ingredients for cheaper fillers and stabilizers to "save costs," I realized we had very different definitions of success.
Here is why I said no:
• Quality over Margins: Mass-produced dips often rely on cheap vegetable oils, preservatives, and artificial thickeners that mask the lack of real flavor.
• Ingredient Integrity: I refuse to compromise on the purity of my product. Every ingredient in a Hanes Hummus container is there because it adds nutritional value and authentic taste, not because it’s the cheapest option on the market.
• The "Home-Style" Standard: My goal has always been to provide the quality of home-made food in a retail format. If I sacrifice the quality of the base ingredients, I lose the very essence of what makes our hummus different from mass-market alternatives.
If I can’t make it the right way, I’d rather not make it at all. Your trust in what you put in your body is worth more than a higher profit margin.
Do you read the ingredient labels before you buy? Let’s talk about what actually matters in our food. 😉
