Another blocked gully sorted by the Enviro-Tec SW team last week.

Our engineers were called out to a gully that had become completely blocked with dirt, leaves and general muck. A good clean out and a bit of jetting later, and it’s flowing freely again.

It’s easy to forget about gullies, but keeping them clear can help prevent standing water, flooding and bigger problems down the line.

A bit of detective work from the Enviro-Tec SW engineers today!

Our team were called out to locate a hidden manhole that had been covered over and was proving tricky to find.

After a bit of investigation and using the right equipment, our engineers managed to trace it and get access.

It’s not always as simple as lifting a manhole cover sometimes you’ve got to find it first!

Blocked gully = another job for the Enviro-Tec SW team!

This one was packed with fat and grease the sort of stuff that can build up over time and cause some serious blockages.

Which brings us to the question… do you pour fat or cooking oil down your drains? 👀

If the answer is yes… please don’t! Once it cools, fat and grease can stick to the inside of your pipes, trap other waste and eventually create a nasty blockage or even a full-on fatberg.

Let your cooking fat cool, pop it in a container and put it in the bin instead.

Your drains will thank you! 😂

A blocked basin turned into a bit of a mystery today… ✏️

Our engineers were called out to a customer with a blocked basin, and after clearing the blockage, we discovered the culprit their missing pencil!

Safe to say, it wasn’t quite what we expected to find down there!

The basin is now clear, the pencil has been recovered and back in the pencil case, and another job done by the Enviro-Tec SW team.

You never quite know what you’re going to find! 👀

Out on site today and getting our customer’s gutters cleaned, our engineers used our Sky Vac system to clear out all the leaves, dirt and debris, getting the gutters back to doing what they’re meant to do.

The Sky Vac is a great bit of kit for getting to those hard-to-reach areas without having to use ladders, making the job safer and much more efficient.

Another job done and another happy customer 👍

Gullies in driveways and around your home are often forgotten about until the rain pours and you are having to tip toe through a large puddle to get to your front door.

Domestic gullies have a water trap in them that accumulates debris and silt over time, these need to be cleaned out to prevent them blocking and to ensure the water can get through quickly enough during heavy rain.

Is your shower taking longer and longer to drain?

It might start with just a little water sitting around your feet, but a slow draining shower can quickly become a full blockage.

Hair, soap, shampoo and general build-up can all collect inside the pipework, gradually restricting the flow.

We recently attended a shower that was struggling to drain properly and, after clearing the blockage, it was back to draining as it should.

Sometimes it’s the little signs that tell you your drains need some attention!

Wednesday wisdom keeping things flowing, one tip at a time!

TIP: Leaves, twigs and debris can quickly build up around gullies, drains and grates, stopping water from flowing away properly. With wetter weather on the way, this can increase the risk of standing water, overflowing drains and blockages.

Our top tip? Give your outside drains and gullies a quick check and clear away any leaves or debris before they become a problem.

A few minutes of prevention now could save you a much bigger headache later!
