First CSA harvest is in the books! All fueled by Workshare’s who come and harvest for 4 hours in exchange for a share. It was CRAZY having this many people helping me all at once after a year of mostly solo days here on the farm.
This week has shown me so many lessons. Today I learned so much about timing and procedure with a crew. Yesterday I learned that you shouldn’t install a brand new cooler system the night before your CSA harvest!! Shoutout to for the cooler support.
Every week a new challenge, every week a new success.

Today I brought home the new tractor to the farm. It felt surreal going from last year- with an old BCS, and some rusty implements, to this giant piece of machinery.
I grew up where every decision around money was about saving the most possible. Never buy the “on brand” cereal, only get the on sale chicken. Budgets were tight, and that mindset has stayed with me in adulthood. Making such a big purchase felt overwhelming. But one of the best pieces of advice I’ve ever received from my farm mentor Elena Coleman was to SPEND money on the equipment that’s going to make your life easier, and make farming feel realistic in 5-10 years. I felt the way my back and body hurt last year, and it did NOT feel good. I know this is what scaling up looks like. And I am so excited for it. This little farm dream is starting to feel like a real business.

Let the seeding begin! Did you know spring officially starts tomorrow? And I can feel the rush of the season start to ramp up. I already have 30+ trays seeded for the farm, and I’ve already done the farms first on ground planting of carrots in the high tunnels. Next week I’m seeding PEPPERS! Can you believe that? I guess winter break is officially over. Back to work.
