Our lodging features treehouses, yurts, a vintage camper, and campsites. We also host weddings and other events. We love sharing our beautiful farm and hope you enjoy it as much as we do! HomeGrown HideAways is available for campouts, weddings, reunions, fundraisers, retreats, workshops, and parties. Mission: to welcome visitors from all over the world to gather together in a natural environment w

here they can unplug from devices and reconnect with one another to exchange ideas, knowledge, culture, and food. Vision: to build bridges and smash stereotypes in order to create a global community that values diversity in all its forms. Lodging includes everything from primitive campsites to treehouses, yurts, vintage campers, and more! Group camping is a popular option and lodging is included with our Glamping Package for weddings. We have a stage and large, covered pavilion. The farm's bath house is open from April through October and features 4 flush toilets and 2 solar-heated showers. There is also a solar-powered event facility equipped with a telephone and kitchen appliances that are available for guests to use. When available, we stock the fridge with our farm-fresh eggs and produce. The farm has a steep and rugged 1.5 mile hiking trail, but weโ€™re also just 8 miles from the Berea Pinnacles. If youโ€™re interested in paddling Owsley Fork Reservoir, our friends down the road at Get Outside Ky rent canoes and kayaks. We are only 20 minutes from Berea, the Arts & Crafts Capital of Ky., where you can usually find workshops and demonstrations of all kinds. We do not have tv, internet, or cell reception. There are as many stars as there are bugs so come prepared for both, but we ask that you leave your pets at home. To book your stay, please visit us at www.HomeGrownHideAways.org or message us if you'd like to plan an event.

The front flower bed has long been a bit of a hodge podge of random perennials with a border of cool rocks and fossils found in the creek and on the trails.

Over time, the rocks have sunk into the dirt and the flowers were running amuck along with some pernicious weeds. I neglected to get a "before" picture, but here are some progress photos.

Our intern, Iris, helped me dig out all the rocks and has been working on weeding. Nathan relocated some ancient railroad ties from where we had to move them out of the way of the kiwi arch project and also repositioned the giant boulder to align better with the new raised perimeter. Once the railroad ties were in place, Iris reset our rock display on top so guests can actually see all the wild variety.

Today, I finished clearing the remaining weeds on half the bed, added some cardboard and composted manure, and began separating and resituating the flowers into a more intentional placement.

The temporary fence will hopefully keep the dogs and chickens out of the garden while we continue to work and give the flowers a chance to get over their shock and settle in.

At some point, we'll tackle the other half, but I figured I'd go ahead and get that "before" picture while I had my phone out.

Side note: if anyone wants some overly aggressive lungwort, come get it before I do my best to kill it. ๐Ÿ˜†

The pond got a fountain upgrade and a visitor today. Hoping to make it a bit more fish-friendly before adding some new inhabitants.

(The one koi died within 4 days ๐Ÿฅบ and the goldfish has been MIA for about a week, but hopefully the new filter will help clarify the water because two of us thought we may have caught a glimpse of the goldfish today. Either way, we'll be adding more soon.) ๐Ÿ ๐Ÿ ๐Ÿ
