Our Home Show Weekend is almost here! Below is the full schedule and what to expect so everyone feels prepared and relaxed going into the weekend.

Saturday 2/28 • 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Prep Day — ALL HANDS ON DECK
All students and parents — whether you are showing or not — are invited to help us get the farm ready.

We will be:
Bathing horses
Cleaning tack
Setting jumps and watering/dragging the arena
Tidying the barn aisle, stalls, and seating areas
Organizing grooming supplies

This is a big part of our horsemanship program — riders learn that a horse show doesn’t just magically happen. It takes a team, and this is how we care for the horses that take care of us.
Please sign up so we know how many helpers to expect:
https://api.leadconnectorhq.com/widget/bookings/feb-social-event-feb-28th
We will provide pizza — please bring drinks and snacks for yourself.

Sunday March 1st • Show Starts at 10:00 AM
All riders showing must arrive at 9:00 AM to help prepare horses and get organized before classes begin.

Even if your ride time is later — everyone comes at 9am. This helps the horses, reduces stress, and teaches teamwork.

What Riders Should Wear
Black Opportunity Farm show team polo
Tan or light-colored riding pants/breeches
Approved helmet
Boots cleaned and polished
Hair neatly secured in a bun or braid
Please have riders wear a light cover-up or jacket over their show clothes until it is close to their ride time to keep outfits clean.

What Will Happen
Each rider will:
Ride their dressage test individually
Receive comments and feedback directly from the judge
This is one of the most educational experiences we offer. The goal is learning and confidence — not perfection.
An Order of Go will be posted on our page and also sent via email/text. Please keep an eye out the week of the show.
All students are welcome to attend even if they are not showing — come watch, learn, and support your barn friends!

After the Show — Potluck Lunch (~1:00 PM)
Once classes finish we will have a relaxed barn social lunch.

Please bring:
A dish to share
Chairs for your family to sit in

Volunteers Needed (Sunday)
We cannot run the show without our barn family — thank you in advance!
1. Judge’s Scribe
Write or type what the judge is saying during rides (laptop or paper)
2. Awards Table Helper
Help riders collect ribbons and choose their assigned prizes
3. Barn Attendant
Help riders get helmets on, organize before entering the ring, offer water, and help keep nervous riders calm
4. Announcer
Call out the rider and horse entering the arena
Supplies We Are Collecting
If you have any of the following to donate or bring, it helps tremendously:
Water bottles for riders and families
Artificial flowers, plants, or real flowers to decorate the arena and barn
Folding tables and chairs
Plates and utensils
Sunscreen
Bug spray
Toilet paper, paper towels

Our home shows are about far more than ribbons. Riders learn preparation, responsibility, sportsmanship, and confidence — and they do it surrounded by a supportive barn family.

Thank you all for being part of Opportunity Farm. We’re looking forward to a wonderful weekend!

See you at the barn,
Erin
