A lot of people care about local food.

They know the names of farms at the farmers' market. They feel good when they grab something local. They genuinely want their food dollars to stay in this community.

But somewhere between wanting to and actually doing it every week, something slips.

It's not a values problem. It's a systems problem. There's no default. No reliable routine. No one place that makes it easy to just keep choosing local, week after week, without adding another decision to an already full week.

That's the gap the Food Hub exists to close.

Follow along for practical local-food content that actually fits into everyday life β€” no guilt, no extra work, just fresh, local food that’s easy.

Local food is not just a household story.

Schools are deciding what goes on the lunch tray. Small grocers are sourcing regional products. Community organizations are thinking about where their purchasing power goes.

These buyers are part of the local food system too, and the choices they make add up.

The Food Hub works with wholesale and institutional buyers across Southwest Washington to make local sourcing more practical.

That means:
🏫 Schools that want regional food on the menu without the complexity of managing multiple farm relationships
πŸ›’ Grocers and retailers looking for dependable local product sourcing
🏒 Organizations and institutions that want their food purchasing to reflect their community values

One coordinated program. Multiple local farms. Streamlined for volume buyers who need it to actually work.

If you manage food purchasing for a school, organization, or business β€” or if you know someone who does β€” this is worth a conversation.

πŸ“© Reach out at [email protected] or visit https://swwafoodhub.com/ to learn more about wholesale options.

And if this post made you think of someone, share it their way. The more buyers we bring into our local food system, the stronger it gets for everyone β€” including the farms.

Want to eat more local food without making your week more complicated?

That's exactly what the Harvest Box is designed for.

Here's how it works:
πŸ₯¦ What it is: A customizable subscription box filled with fresh, seasonal food sourced from local farms across Southwest Washington. One program, 30+ farms, coordinated for you.
πŸ“¦What you get: 19 boxes over the summer season, with the flexibility to pay in full or quarterly β€” whatever fits your situation.
πŸ“ Where you pick it up: Thursdays at 13 locations across Thurston and Lewis counties β€” including Three Magnets Brewing, 8 Arms Bakery, Colvin Ranch Provisions, Grist Stone Milling, The Farm Store, and more.
πŸ›’ How to sign up: Head to shop.swwafoodhub.com, create a free account, and select Thursday delivery. From there, you'll be able to browse subscription options and find your pickup location.

The whole point of the Food Hub is that buying local shouldn't require extra research, extra trips, or extra friction. The Harvest Box is how we put that into practice.

If you've been thinking about it, this is a good time to start. Get a $20 discount on a seasonal subscription with code MOMTREAT.

If you've been curious about Harvest Box but never quite understood how it works, this one's for you.

We hear a lot of the same questions: Do I have to take whatever's in the box? Is it a big commitment? Where do I even pick it up? Fair questions. Here's what you actually need to know.

βœ… It's customizable. You're not locked into a one-size-fits-all box. You choose what works for your household.
βœ… It's 19 boxes over the summer season. Fresh, local food sourced from farms right here in Southwest Washington, and you can pay in full or spread it out quarterly, whichever works better for your budget.
βœ… Pickup is on Thursdays at 13 locations across Thurston and Lewis counties, including spots like Three Magnets Brewing, Colvin Ranch Provisions, Nature Nurture Farmacy, and Toledo Neighbors.
βœ… It's not complicated. The whole point is that local food should fit into your week, not add to it.

The Harvest Box brings products from more than 30 local farms into one coordinated, easy-to-access program. You don't have to track down every farm individually. We do that part.

πŸ“Œ Save this post if you've been meaning to look into it. Or share it with someone who's been asking how the box thing works.

πŸ‘‰ Ready to sign up? Visit https://swwafoodhub.com/harvestbox/ β€” you'll need to create a free account to view and purchase subscriptions. Select Thursday delivery and find your closest pickup spot.

We're hiring! And this one's worth sharing.

The Southwest Washington Growers Cooperative is looking for a full-time Delivery Driver and Warehouse Support team member to join the Food Hub operation out of Chehalis.

You'll pick up product from local farms, get it to our warehouse, and help make sure orders are packed and ready to go. It's physical, hands-on work, and it's genuinely important. Every box that reaches a customer starts with someone doing this job well.

Here's a quick look at the role:

Full-time, M–F, 7 am–4 pm (some seasonal variation)
Pay: $22–$25/hour
Driving a refrigerated box truck (no CDL required)
Warehouse work: packing orders, managing inventory, keeping things clean and food-safe
Based out of 105 McBride Ct, Unit A, Chehalis

We'll cover your food handler's card and forklift certification if needed. A clean driving record and five-year abstract are required.

If you or someone you know is looking for steady, meaningful work that keeps local food moving through Southwest Washington, we'd love to hear from you.

Eating local is easier than you think. πŸ₯•

You already want to support the farms in your community. You already want your family eating fresh, real food. The Food Hub Harvest Box is just the part that makes it simple.

Each week, you pick up a box of freshly harvested vegetables β€” and occasionally value-added goods like honey, beans, or kraut β€” sourced from 30+ local farms right here in Southwest Washington. No hunting down individual vendors. No guessing what's in season. Just one easy pickup on Thursdays at a location near you.

New this year: the Starter Box at $29/box β€” a smaller option designed for one to two people who want to try out the subscription before committing to the full size.

The Spring/Summer Harvest Box is a 15-week subscription at $39/box, with pickup locations across Thurston and Lewis counties β€” including spots like Three Magnets Brewing, 8 Arms Bakery, Colvin Ranch, and more.

You can pay in full or split it into installments. You can customize your box each week. And every dollar you spend goes directly back to the regional farmers growing your food.

🌸 In honor of Mother's Day, we're offering $20 off a subscription. Use code MOMTREAT at checkout.

Here is something worth knowing about the Food Hub that does not always make the headline:

When you pick up a Harvest Box, you are not just buying from one farm. You are buying from a whole network of them. Vegetables, meat, value-added goods, pantry staples, all sourced from producers right here in Southwest Washington and coordinated into one box for one pickup.

No hunting down vendors. No remembering which farm sells what. No driving to three different places.

Just one pickup on Thursdays, at a location that probably already fits into your week. It's a system designed around real life β€” not ideal conditions.

We have 12 pickup locations across Thurston and Lewis counties, including spots like Three Magnets Brewing, 8 Arms Bakery, and Colvin Ranch Provisions.

Follow along to learn more about how it works. 🌱

You're not wrong for thinking local food sounds hard.

It can feel that way. The farmer's market is only on Saturdays. The good stuff sells out fast. And between work, kids, and everything else on your plate β€” literally β€” it's easy to just reach for whatever's closest.

But here's what we've found: most people don't actually want to opt out of local food. They just need it to work better with their real life.

That's the whole reason the Southwest Washington Food Hub exists. To make buying from local farms something you can actually do regularly β€” not just when the timing lines up perfectly.

We're just getting started here, and we'll be sharing simple, practical ways to get more local food on your table without turning it into a part-time job.

Follow along if that sounds like your kind of thing. 🌱
