We are hoping everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving with friends and family. I know some of you are helping at soup kitchens, many of you are working to keep us all safe, the power on, or at one job or another. We are thankful to you.
Andy and I find something to be thankful for every day and I must admit it is easy on the Seven Stars Ranch. We are surrounded by friends and family (some living many miles away) not to mention or wonderful animals that bring us laughter everyday.
This afternoon I will put the finishing touches on our dinner right after watching the National Dog Show. My son Daniel and family will be watching the dog show in North Pole, Alaska and even though a great distance we will be close.
Wishing you many things to come your way that bring you joy and gratefulness.

Does anyone out there know where I can purchase galvanized cattle/horse panels 12 ft. We are also willing to pay to have them made along with some gates.
Similar to the picture below. Please message me if you can help. Thank you

In the last week we have had three alpacas down with tick paralysis. Does anybody have some experience with a good product to spray on our pastures for tick removal that is safe for the animal. This would be for northern Idaho and yes it's snowing and we still have ticks. Thank you for your help.

My mother-in-law, Mildred Schumacher living in Grafton WI. reached her 100th birthday today. She has been an amazing woman in so many ways. She taught countless people to crochet. When Andy was working out at Eielson AFB in Fairbanks, Alaska she would send him boxes full of crocheted Teddy Bears and he would hand them out to soon to be fathers and mothers. Those bears traveled all over the world. She crocheted countless lap blankets for people in nursing homes to keep their legs warm. She has taught me to find joy and wonderment in the smallest of things.
My favorite experience with Mildred was when her friend Betty (not her real name) and her had just finished getting their weekly hair appointment done. They stepped out of the salon with their gray hair looking wonderful to a rainy day with shopping on their minds. Mildred was driving and after going around the block several times looking for a parking spot Betty excitedly said “pull into that handicapped parking spot in front of the store, I have a handicapped parking ticket we can hang in the window.”
Mildred passed the space up, found a spot about a block away and parked. She jumped out of the car and let her friend know “well there is nothing wrong with my legs, lets go.” That was it, off we went at a fast clip to the store. I admired her so much that day and all the days I have known her.

Fun Fact Friday ❤️

Nigerian Dwarf Goats are some of the smaller goats with does (female) measuring no more than 22 1/2" at the withers, and bucks (male) measuring no more than 23 1/2" .

They are good for meat, milking, and great companionship for small children and adults alike.

Nigerian Dwarves are the most colorful breed of goats with all colors, combination of colors, and patterns accepted.  They are also the only dairy breed to occasionally have blue eyes.  I have two black ones with the most beautiful ice blue eyes.

Nigerian Dwarf does can breed all year round, and have one to six kids at a time. Note: World record seven kids born to one doe at Sinai Thunder (2016).  🐐

Our two female goats that we bred last year each had twins.  We will be rebreeding them in January so be sure and visit in June when the offspring are due.  You might be able to hold one of our kids. ❤️

One of my favorites, hope you enjoy.

Fun Fact Friday

Such a wonderful animal the Chicken.

They provide family friendly entertainment, pest control for your garden, and nourishment for your family (meat birds and laying hens). You do not need a rooster to receive an egg from your hens. Hens lay regardless of fertilization and fresh eggs can’t be beat! However, you do need the rooster if you want baby chicks. 🐣

Chickens are among the closest living relatives to the Tyrannosaurus Rex. This is very evident when you see them roam around the ranch. I can only say I am glad they only weigh on the average about 6 pounds. 🐓

They have good memories and can recognize their names, and their owner. I have had chickens that love to be held and stroked while others not so much.

They are a great pet for the backyard suburbia but roosters aren’t usually welcome. Roosters have a loud morning crowing custom telling everyone it is time to start the day. Your neighbors may or may not find that charming. We certainly do.

The holidays are for reflecting on our many ways to be thankful. At the Seven Stars Ranch we are grateful for family, friends, and the 77 Heartbeats that share this wonderful 40 acres with us.

We are thankful to the people who come to visit the ranch and support what we do for our animals. People come to see the alpacas and then learn there is so much more.

The alpacas give the gift of humor, grace, and beauty.

The Donkeys make us smile with a “Hee Haw” and a request for a bum rub.

The horses, no matter what their size show us strength and elegance in their movement.

Our dogs let us know what is going on at the ranch with a wag of the tale or a ferocious bark.

The chickens give us eggs while the rooster lets us know it is time to get up and get the chores done.

The cats keep the mice population in check and yes, they bring us gifts.

The wildlife brings us joy and awe as they pass through this land that we share with them.
We wish you for you what you wish for you.

Thankful
