"I love to think of nature as an unlimited broadcasting station, through which God speaks to us every hour, if we will only tune in." - George Washington Carver

I pray that I never lose that sense of awe and WOW when I look at the beautiful world God has created. We do not have flowers yet for sale but our peonies are finally blooming.

Why finally? We have had to move them soooo many times and they are finally in their forever home and thriving. These salmon ones are amazing. These blooms are about a week old. When first picked they were a deeper pink and now I just find myself staring at them every time I walk by with a sense of WOW!

We are ALMOST done planting - we have about 1/3 of the u-pick field left to plant! I had the sweetest lady come out the other day. She reached out offering to help plant. The conversation was delightful and we got so much done. Today the kids impressed me. They planted two full rows of zinnias and at the end even said....wow mom that actually was fun!

Happy Friday to everyone - look outside today and find something AWEsome and wonderful!

Thank you for an amazing weekend. Our dahlia tuber sale is closed.

Our dahlia tuber sale was spur of the moment but turned out to be so much fun! This will definitely be an annual event! Thank you!!!

We loved saying hello to all the new faces and familiar faces. Hearing garden dreams and planting excitement. It felt so good to have people on the farm again! U-pick season is going to be so fun!!!!

!!!! SAVE THE MYSTERY DAHLIAS FROM THE COMPOST SALE !!!!

First come first serve :)

When: Thursday (TODAY) 2:00 PM thru Monday at 8 PM.
Cost: $5 per clump/tuber
Payment: Cash, Venmo, or PayPal

Fun fact: I have the hardest time killing/composting plants and I just can not throw a perfectly viable tuber away. BUT we planted more than we ever have this year and I truly do not need more....

Dahlia tubers are like potatoes....you plant one and when you dig up in the fall that one tuber will have made several more. For example on average you might get 3-8 tubers in the fall from one spring planted tuber. If you do the math you can see the exponential growth... 😳

We have divided and planted our field and have A LOT of extra tubers. We did our dahlia tuber sale with our farm family and had mystery tubers marked $5 and are passing that on to you!!!

What's going on this week photo dump?

This year has such a crazy but calm feel to it. It's like we are finally figuring out our flow after 6 years 😂

We've been balancing planting veggies, planting flowers, getting our school work in, and the motto this year is little by little, inch by inch.

We started planting the u-pick field, dahlia field has 2 rows left, lettuce is almost ready to pick, and veggie seeds going in the ground (corn, edamame, and beans went in this week).

What are you planting?!

Dahlia day - we started planting in the cool rain this morning and now it's summer heat and sun.

3 rows in and 3 or 4 more to go! Jim's planting all the lisianthus (finally). He is a trooper. 600 Lizzie's finally in their home!

We told the kids we are working hard today then will play hard this evening. It's a lot of work but so worth it!

It's just about dahlia planting season for us. We hope to have the field planted this weekend.

Do you ever have a big job that you struggle to start because it seems overwhelming? Then when. You finally complete it you find yourself saying - that wasn't bad at all.

That was me yesterday when we amended the dahlia field with compost. It also made me super excited!

Email will be heading out tomorrow evening with our dahlia tuber sale inventory!

Happy Mother's Day to all ❤️ thank you for all you do on a daily basis.

We worked in the veggie garden all day and have it almost ready to go. The big wood chip spaced will be for all things melon and pumpkin like (cantaloupe, watermelon, pumpkins, winter squash, and cucumbers). I'm hoping for a crazy viney jungle.

I love growing flowers but I equally love growing vegetables. I think after years of trial and error we finally have our dream set up.

Now that the veggie garden is ready and waiting for warmer weather we are going to start planting the U-PICK field this week!!!! Yahoo!!!!!!!

--- DAHLIA TUBERS ---
We have had many people asking if we are selling tubers this year.
We typically plant our tubers mid/end of May and are pulling them out of storage today.

If you are interested in dahlia tubers, we will be sending out an email to our farm subscribers first (we plan to send it out on Friday or earlier). Not on our email list? Head on over to our website and sign up today! www.allisonacresfarm.com

Happy Planting!

Husband brag post - yesterday my goal was to get all our snapdragons finally in, round #2 of bells, and round #2 of sweet William....instead I got a "lovely" round of food poisoning 😔

Today I feel a lot better but slow and achy and definitely not able to do much at any sort of speed. He stayed home and got over 200 snaps in the ground, bells of Ireland, and weeded quite a bit.

This truly is a family farm. We all work together as a team and have our roles. Thankful today and now dreaming of consistent warm weather ❤️
