Well, we started with 11 heifers who were supposed to be pregnant and a bull. 10 of them had babies between March 10 and April 14 and we thought we were done-not bad considering they had a long drive up from Oklahoma back in February and anything could have caused a problem. But this weekend we noticed “46”’s udder had gotten big…she surprised us with a beautiful healthy baby! We’ll give her some time before we find out if it’s a boy or a girl.

10% of the herd representin’ with a beautiful background of Rocky Mountains in the forefront of a beautiful sunset! God has brought us to a truly magnificent place. He has literally given us 🎵a home where the buffalo roam (to the south), and the deer and antelope play (to the east); where seldom is heard, a discouraging word and the skies (on average) are not cloudy all day.🎵 🥰

Thank you K&D Livestock for another beautiful heifer. She made the journey from Texas to Colorado safely and was greeted by her new herd of 29! She started eating grass right away and took a few sips of water.

Our herd is complete for now-next we begin the next phase of the Good Steward Cattle Co journey. ❤️

Our Miss Rachel is a registered Colorado Mountain Dog who takes her job very seriously. Although she’s on her own 2 1/2 acres separate from the cows, she dutifully watches them through the fence and lets them know she’s got their back. She loves her job and gets so excited when the younger ones come and give her kisses. She’s an excellent farm guardian. ❤️

Yesterday was cold and snowy. As per Colorado tradition, winter is never really gone until June. Our last little girl was born, small and kind of weak 4 days ago. Yesterday when the snow and the wind started, we went out and did a cow/calf check and headcount. This little girl was missing and we found her out in the field curled up cold. So we rounded her up and brought her into the barn and helped mama figure out where she was at. They both spent the night in there warm and safe and when we came out this morning to let them out, she was up and running around looking healthier and happy. The weather looks good for the next few days, but we are grateful that we were able to protect her and help her get through that little trial. We now have 9 babies making our herd a total of 29 so far.
