Look at this silly girl! Her poor momma!

Oh and I want to add, while Jo's babies are hefty, she still looked bigger than just two babies. Well, let's just say she doesn't have that "skinny sunken in, I just had babies and need to put back on some weight" look to her. For one of my smaller goats, which is saying something, she is, let's say, a healthy girl. I might be over doing the treats with her, lol

I think Jolene has taught her 1 day old babies that I am mean so that they won't get attention that is rightfully meant for her..
I say this because since the moment I met them, they scream if I even come near them, let alone try to hold them. Below are the best pictures I could get of them, but in the comments I'll post two pictures that pretty much represent my relationship with them right now. When they scream, Jolene is unconcerned. I want to believe it's because she knows she can trust me, but I actually believe I see a little smile on her face, as if she's thinking, "That's right, you hate that human, that's MY human!". We will never know but I'm trusting my gut lol

Excuse little man's pine shaving eye bo**er!

The Jolene hostage situation ended peacefully yesterday afternoon! Miss Jolene realized that there wasn't anything left to gain through negotiations and she yielded to my demands and gave birth to two healthy little ones. One boy, one girl, they aren't necessarily "extra large" but they are NOT tiny either. They are very stout. Miss Jolene definitely over cooked them just a bit. My non-goat responsibilities yesterday kept me from spending much time with them, but momma and babies were moved to a fresh clean stall with fresh shavings, and a smorgasbord of everything she needs to recover. Tonight I will share some pictures of the recently freed hostages with you all so until then Ciao for now, T.

The picture below is from the camera, right after birth and before being moved to the fresh stall.

As day 4 of the Jolene hostage negotiation comes to a close, I now believe that since negotiations have stalled mostly because there is nothing left that I have to offer that she hasn't already gotten, that her new strategy is to hold out until she has sufficiently driven me crazy!

Case in point: we were under a tornado warning earlier, not a watch, a warning, so what does Jolene and her daughter decide they want? They want in the barn, not the kidding and nursery barn, but the main barn. The problem is, she can't get in there without me, so she waits for it to storm, then stands outside the barn screaming toward the house until I hear her. She is getting rained on and the wind is crazy! We all know how much goats hate water, especially rain, but noooo, she is making a point!

So now I must also get wet and guide her back to the nursery where she will spend the rest of the night in a stall. I closed up the nursery as well, which I usually do before bed, but with the storm I went ahead and closed up early.

Now we can see Miss Jolene comfortably enjoying a nice dry stall with all the fixin's.

Stay tuned and see if day 5 is the day she caves.

We've entered day three of the Jolene hostage situation. Her demands to have her eldest daughter join her has been met, as well as the finest hay, grain, fresh water, and salt. She has everything she needs, yet negotiations have broken down.

She likes playing games during negotiations such as laying down on her left side with all four legs stretched out and panting, then just when she's convinced the audience that she is about to start pushing, she jumps up and eats hay, no longer panting and looks at you with what can only be described as glee.

We've moved on to another strategy of installing a camera to aid with negotiations. Below you can see a screenshot from inside the hostage situation.

Stay tuned as this situation unfolds, good night from Caprine Dreams!
