Today was a busy day! Work, garden, goats. Tinker has waited all day for me to fix a fresh batch of her dog food. I think she’s glad it is finally done. Feed your dogs real food. Not ultra processed, fatty food from a can or a bag or a pouch. This is Tinker’s crock pot chicken with sweet potato and green beans. She gets a glass pan to eat from so there are no microplastics! Of course we pick up the pan as soon as she is done. One whole chicken that we raised in our pasture, green beans from our garden and $2 worth of sweet potato last her an entire week and it does not take long to prepare. Low fat, high protein, real food. And she loves it!

We had Sid's photo up in the trailer yesterday along side a pamphelet we put together on what we learned about pancreatitis in dogs - what causes it, what the symptoms are and just a bit about our boy Sid. Our goal is to spread the word about this disease in dogs and how expensive and devastating it is to treat and therefore, prevention is so very important. I had a lot of people take a brochure, stop and read about Sid and then I had 3 people tell me their dog's story...that they had dealt with pancreatitis too and they did not realize what it was OR get them to a vet in time. In all 3 stories, the outcome was devastating. A Pug from a rescue, a Schnauzer from a breeder, a Mixed breed adopted from a shelter. All under 7 year old. And today I have learned of a friend's dog (also a schnauzer, under 8) who has succumbed to this disease. It makes me feel less guilty for Sid's situation. But it also makes me so sad and a little angry. Dog's give us their best and love us uncondionally. We give them food we think is safe. High fat dog food can cause pancreatitis and so after Sid's untimely death, we have started making our own dog food to feed to our remaining dogs. It has been 5 weeks and we see a difference in their energy and thriftiness. We will continue to talk about Sid and his story from beginning to end. He was the BEST boy! And we will start sharing our dog food recipes soon...and we will have printed copies in the trailer when we travel to events for anyone who wants a copy. If we can help dogs and their owners from Sid's story, then maybe I can remember him without tears.

Back home all safe and sound from The Corydon Extravaganza! Thank you to the organizers for putting on such a large scale event, I know it is not easy! Thank you to all the shoppers that supported me today! I know you have choices when you buy goat milk products, I appreciate you choosing me! The internet was a challenge, the weather was gorgeous, the other vendors were super nice and I LOVE the overnight security! Checked out the goat barn (of course!), found a bunch of toads on my late night walking, and met a super nice man getting his boarded horse ready for sulky racing in Kentucky! Got home a bit later than I wanted due to an accident on I65, but took a few exits early and found my way coming home smaller roads…all is well. I am so proud of myself…this was the furthest event from home where I have gone totally solo, no craft buddy to help me, no husband, no one at the show I know! Totally did it 100% by myself. I can do hard things! LOL! Next up is Stream Cliff Farm, Restaurant & Winery in June! It will be my first event there as well!

Can you tell I was HOT 🥵 last night! I was out walking late trying to close those Apple Watch exercise rings (I did!)! But then the trailer was pretty warm🔥still at midnight. Thankful I am only here one day…the worst is behind me and this morning feels great!

We had been working on this before our boy got so sick. It is finally ready to go…Sid’s Suds is an all natural goat milk dog shampoo for your furry friend. Why not use the good stuff on your doggo? A solid bar, bone shaped for the original formulation, paw shaped for shampoo with Neem Oil (bug repellant). The original formulation will debut on the trailer this weekend, with a picture of Sid as a pup and information on pancreatitis in dogs. Perhaps Sid’s story can save someone else’s pup. I miss my boy.

Got my onion sets, now we need to dry out so we can plant! We did manage to get the marigolds in around the chicken pen…we think of them as a natural pest deterrent, but I’ve read that depends on the variety of marigold you plant and the pests you have. We give them as treats to the chickens…The petals are full of carotenoids, lutein, and beta-carotene that naturally deepen egg yolks to a rich, dark orange. They are also packed with antioxidants and have anti-inflammatory properties that aid in toxin flushing, respiratory health, and skin tissue repair. Our chickens love pecking at them. We feed them fresh or dried and of course, if the chickens are out in the yard, it is hard to keep them out of the marigolds planted around the run!
