My sister and her crew visited us all the way from Nebraska last week.
2 vans. 10 kids. 20 hours of driving.
They arrived just in time for a few 90 degree days, followed by a few muddy ones. Pretty classic farm visit.
We had bonfires, made homemade bows and arrows from the arrowwood viburnum and chicken feathers, explored Baltimore and DC, and even got a few hours of shoveling, greens washing, and plant watering out of them.
The clearest sign they were here though? About 1,000 shoes in the entryway and perpetual laundry and dishes. I don’t know how my sister does it 😳
Now the house feels awfully quiet. (Which the cats appreciate. They made themselves scarce during the visit- we didn’t see Oliver for 3 days straight lol)
This time of year on the farm can feel like one long sprint, so having family here — even loud, chaotic family — was really good for the soul.
