I cringe every time the feed delivery comes. At the same time I’m appreciative that we are able to support a small family business that delivers to us and keeps our animals fed. This total would be so much higher if it were all coming from tractor supply or one of the other big guys. I try to be a little more transparent at times so that when some folks tell me $6 is too much for eggs, or 150 is too much for a wethered goat, that they can see exactly what it cost to feed everyone. This is about 6 weeks worth of feed, and doesn’t include hay, specialty feeds, minerals, and kelp meal.
That’s why is it so crucial that folks shop small whenever possible. Know where your food and your products come from. Yes, products from small businesses may cost a little more but I can guarantee you that they are almost always better quality and better for you. We truly appreciate all of your support and hope to gain many more customers over the years.
