Ridgeview Acres At Ridgeview Acres we raise purebred and commercial sheep, club lambs, as well as commercial beef cattle, and chickens.

We are located in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley between the towns of New Hope and Grottoes in Augusta County, Virginia. Ridgeview Acres is a family owned Agricultural business that is owned and opperated by David Shiflett. His sons, Adam and Jason, created A&J Shiflett to raise and show purebred sheep. David, Jason, and Jason's sons Aiden and Rylee continue to show sheep at local and state fairs. Ridgeview Acres also has commercial sheep and club lambs that are sold to local youth for use as 4-H and FFA project lambs.

We had a really good couple of days at the Carolina Classic Fair. In the Dorset breed, we had a couple of class winners, and competed well. We did really well with our Suffolks, taking home the Champion and Reserve with both the Rams and Ewes. They didn't have a Premier Exhibitor award, so I can't say that we won one in 4 states this year, but I would like to think that we placed well enough that we would have won it in both breeds. I'll add some pictures later.

Here's a better one.

It's been really busy on the farm lately, so I wasn't able to get any photos of us getting the sheep ready for the Carolina Classic. But they are as ready as they're gonna get. We're heading out for Winston Salem Wednesday morning!

I just realized that we have won Premier Exhibitor with our Dorsets at 3 different State Fairs this year. We won the overall Premier Exhibitor in Dorsets at the West Virginia and Virginia State Fairs, and we won Premier Exhibitor in Dorsets at the Eastern Regional Dorset Junior Show at the Maryland State Fair.

If the Carolina Classic has a Premier Exhibitor Award, and we happen to win it, that will be four times in four states in a single year!

It was a very busy weekend at the Virginia State Fair. On Saturday Rylee and Veda participated in the Virginia Junior Sheep Breeders Association Show, and on Sunday we participated in the Open show at the Virginia State Fair. We did fairly good in both shows. Rylee walked away with Premier Dorset Exhibitor in the Open Show, and our January Suffolk Ram was Champion Suffolk Ram in both shows. The prize in the VJSBA show was a sheep blanket, and he won a ribbon in the Open Show.

With their bellies full from this mornings feeding, these rams are getting a rest in before today's show.

Washed, shared, washed again, and blanketed, the show sheep are having their last dinner before heading to Richmond in the morning. They'll get breakfast before we hit the road, but other than that, they're ready to go!
