Experience a fresh cut tree from our farm this year. Gaines Christmas Tree Farm was founded in 1996. We're located two miles northwest of Callaway Furniture, at 1948 Hokins Cemetery Road, in Harrington, Delaware. Two miles behind the furniture store! All of our trees are grown on this farm. No trees are brought in from out of state for resale. We cut each tree the day YOU select it. Buying a fresh

Where you see small trees, there was once a market size tree.
If the grower has roll upon roll of tall trees, what does that say?
The price is too high AND they don't sell many!

We only sell trees that have been growing on this farm.
No pre-cut trees ever!
The trees you see here are 4-5 years old.

Accent tree planting is no different than putting any other tree in the ground. Bigger trees cost lots more money. Why? They generally use specialized equipment to remove them from the ground. While smaller trees cost less, there are a few things to remember...
1. the hole must be dug to the correct size. Sometimes adding conditioned soil to the hole will give the tree softer rooting material that has a touch of fertilizer,
2. Staking the trees keeps it from moving and allowing air to enter the root ball.
3. Using mulch helps to keep moisture in the root area.
4. Once planted, trees sometimes sit for a few years to reestablish feeder roots. Once these have developed, the tree will produce lots of growth.

We have put two varieties back into the tree patches. There are 100 Douglas Firs and 100 Norway Spruce. They will sit for about 3 years and then start a rapid growth process. Hurry up and wait is the line we use.
