🐎 Daily Devotional — When the Weight Gets Heavy
Troubles have a way of weighing us down.
Sometimes the burdens of life feel like a heavy saddle on our shoulders. We carry our worries from one day into the next, replaying situations in our minds and wondering how everything is going to work out.
But God never asked us to carry those burdens alone.
When we're out on the trail, a good rider doesn't fight the horse every step of the way. There is a trust that develops between horse and rider. The rider guides, the horse follows, and together they move forward—even when the trail becomes rocky or unfamiliar.
Our walk with God can be much the same.
When the trail of life gets difficult, we have to trust the One holding the reins.
Philippians 4:6-7 tells us not to be anxious, but to bring everything to God through prayer and thanksgiving. And when we do, God's peace—peace that surpasses our understanding—guards our hearts and minds.
Then comes the next step: change what we're focusing on.
Philippians 4:8 tells us to think about things that are true, honorable, just, pure, lovely, commendable, excellent, and worthy of praise.
That doesn't mean pretending our problems don't exist. It means refusing to let our problems become the only thing we see.
A rodeo rider can't spend the entire ride staring at the ground or worrying about what might go wrong. They have to stay focused, stay balanced, and keep moving.
And that's what God calls us to do.
When anxiety starts weighing you down, take it to God instead of carrying it yourself. When negative thoughts begin circling your mind, replace them with God's truth. When the trail gets rough, remember Who is holding the reins.
You may not know what lies around the next bend, but God does.
So today, unload that heavy saddle.
Give God your anxiety.Give Him your worries.Give Him the things you cannot control.
Then lift your eyes toward Him and choose to dwell on what is good, pure, beautiful, and praiseworthy.
The trail may be difficult, but you don't have to ride it alone.
🙏
Heavenly Father, today I give You every worry, fear, and burden that has been weighing me down. Help me stop carrying what You have asked me to surrender. Fill my heart with Your supernatural peace and guard my mind when anxiety tries to take control.
Help me focus on what is true, honorable, pure, lovely, commendable, excellent, and praiseworthy. When the trail gets rough, remind me that You are still holding the reins. Teach me to trust Your direction even when I cannot see what is around the next bend.
Lord, help me ride through every season of life with faith, knowing that wherever You lead me, I am never riding alone.
In Jesus' name,Amen. ❤️
