Our new little hens are being ambitious about laying. Lots of small eggs are available. I prefer the small ones. Large yolks with a wonderful flavor. Call or text 360-607-8797.

After waiting all summer, the Brown Turkey Figs are starting to ripen. $4.00/lb. Various sizes of boxes and the peppers are going wild. Here's pretty shish*tos. Throw them on the grill. Shish*tos are not spicy, but we have plenty that are. Come by and see.
We will be at the Pepper Palooza Saturday, 11-3 at Hazel Dell Commons, 9811 NE HWY 99, Vancouver, WA.

Each year there's a crop that is particularly outstanding. I have to designate this year as the year of the peppers. We have both sweet and spicy in several different varieties. One of our favorite recipes is pepper jelly. You can use mild or hot peppers. I like the hot ones. Serve it on a cracker with cream or goat cheese for a wonderful appetizer.

We have an abundance of peppers this year. Shish*tos are not spicy but have excellent flavor and are crunchy. Great to throw on the barbecue or preserve like dill pickles. Serranos and Jalapeños are good too if you like spicy foods.

We sold a lot at the market today and brought back a lot as well. All picked and ready for you in the egg shed. If you like babaganough an easy way to make it and preserve eggplant for it, roast the whole eggplant in the barbeque so the skin is blackened then clean out the meat. You can also make the meat into patties and dry for a wonderful winter treat.

It was a slow start for veggies this year, with some failures even but finally the plants are kicking in and we took a good load to market today. The flame seedless grapes and the prune plums were big hits. The Asian pears are producing and tomatoes and corn are showing off now. The corn is double sweet with white and yellow varieties. Stop by and check them out. Text 360-607-8797 so we can best help you.

Harvest season is here for some produce. The pears have freckles, (someone didn't get the spray out in the spring) but underneath the spots are some good eating fruit. $.50 cents a lb. now until they're gone.

Figs are overwhelming us right now. We have many picked and more on the trees. The Golden plums are ready as well and need to be picked. They are wonderful mixed with figs for a jam we call Plufig. Just the right tartness to bring out the fig flavor. Come and get some.

We have had a slow start this year compared to other years, but finally catching up. Tomatoes are starting to ripen, peppers are coming on strong, lots of herbs are ready, some cucumbers are ripening, beans and eggplants are producing. Open daylight hours. Send a text for questions, 360-607-8797.
