Maggie didn’t make it. The prolapse was too great with two large full thickness tears. The entire uterus had come out and had swollen too much to go back in. Even if we were able to reduce it back in, she had a huge risk of peritonitis (an infection that would kill her) and she had already lost a lot of blood. I sat and petted her head in my lap as she passed. It was hard. The boys watched because it was a day they need to be present. These things will happen on a farm. Death will always be part of life. It’s important for them to understand this. I wanted the questions though they didn’t have many. Today was a hard day to be a farmer. One momma and two babies is a hard one. Rest easy Mags, with your sweet baby bull twins 🖤🤍🖤

Not a good day or a good start to calving season. We are pretty heartbroken but currently waiting on the vet as momma has a uterine prolapse and we might lose her as well. I tried to revive the babies but it was too late. We lost both. Pray for Maggie. 💔

We learned a lot with our first chicken coop build and definitely changed a lot of things on our second. If you have any questions about anything we are happy to answer them.

In just 3 days, we hit our mark, we did it!!! We got the pasture secure and electrified! The girls are moved and lovin the new digs!

A field full of Galloways has always looked magical to me. 🤍🖤

We worked hard to get here, and we are just getting started!

We fenced over 1000 ft in less than 2 days. Just the two of us. All we have left to do is light it up and hang a few more gates.

I’m tired boss.

I got home yesterday… after pulling 220 hours in 20 days. I hit the ground running. We got 26 Registered Belted Galloway cows that are all confirmed bred to a registered angus bull. Cow math says we will have 50 or more come September 😉. We have our first real herd. 🖤

And as usual, we got them before we had a chance to fix the fences or run the irrigation so Steven and I are burning that candle again trying to fence our 36 acre pasture in the next 2 days. We got a good run in today.

We also officially have our first hay cutting!

It’s starting to feel like a real farm. Piece by piece we are building our dreams. It’s long days, a lot of tears, harder work than most could imagine; and what a privilege it is. To be worn out from building something I once dreamed of. Not a day goes by that I don’t thank my lucky starts to be here in this moment.
