We took this video yesterday morning... Y'ALL...these babies are ONLY 4 DAYS OLD. 😂🐷
No job. No bills. Free room and board. Unlimited milk.
And somehow they’ve already got BEEF. 💀🥊
I swear these little things get more personality by the hour. 😂

We lost one of our little piglets today. 💔🐷

He was the little guy that Mama accidentally stepped on less than 24 hours after he was born. She really does try so hard to be careful with her babies, but sometimes accidents happen—especially with such tiny little ones under a big mama.

We were watching him closely, helping him along, and really hoping he was going to pull through. He was a little fighter, and we were rooting for him every step of the way. Unfortunately, today his little body just couldn’t fight anymore. 💔

This is the part of raising animals that never gets easier. You can know that loss is part of farm life, but that doesn’t make it hurt any less when you’ve spent days caring for one and hoping for the best.

Rest easy, little buddy. 🐷🤍
You were only here for a short time, but you were definitely loved.

🐷 Just a little piglet cuteness for your feed! 🐷💕

After all the excitement… we finally got a chance to slow down today and just enjoy these sweet little faces. Mama and all 9 babies are doing great!

Tiny snouts, floppy ears, full bellies, and LOTS of naps. 🥹❤️ We could sit and watch them all day!

There’s just something about a pile of sleeping piglets that makes all those sleepless hours worth it. 🐷💤

🐷❤️ BABY WATCH IS OFFICIALLY OVER… THE BABIES ARE HERE!!! ❤️🐷

After days of watching, waiting, checking every little sign, and wondering just WHEN she was finally going to decide it was time… our girl did it! 🥹

What started as Friday Night Under the Lights 🏈 turned into birthin’ babies under the flashlights 🔦🐷

It was a LONG night with very little sleep, a whole lot of excitement! But Mama did an amazing job, and seeing her settled in with all those sweet little babies makes every tired minute worth it. ❤️

We’ve shared the waiting, the updates, and all the signs with y’all… so we couldn’t wait to finally share the update everyone has been waiting for:

Get ready, because there are probably going to be an unreasonable number of baby pig pictures around here for a while. 😂❤️

🚨🐷 BABY WATCH UPDATE!! 🐷🚨

We may officially be moving into active early labor! 😁🤞

Nesting ✔️
Heavy breathing ✔️
Up and down, up and down ✔️
Flopping from side to side trying to get comfortable ✔️
Tail straight up over her back ✔️
Restless as can be ✔️

She is showing ALL the signs, and we are watching her like a hawk! 👀😂

Now the big question is… are we finally going to meet these babies TONIGHT or TOMORROW?! 🐷🩷🐷🩵

Come on, Mama — we’re ready when you are! ❤️

🐷💕 The waiting game has officially begun!

Our girl is getting close, and we’re officially on baby watch! 🐽🍼 She’s keeping us guessing, but all the signs are telling us those sweet little piglets won’t keep us waiting too much longer.

This will be her first litter, so we’re equal parts excited, nervous, and probably checking on her WAY more than she thinks is necessary. 😂

Now we wait… and check… and wait… and check some more. 👀🐷

We've got a couple bantam hens that are broody so I gave them some BCM eggs a few weeks ago. The eggs kept coming up missing 1 or 2 at a time and we couldn't find the culprit. Today we're down to one egg.
We figured it must be a snake because the coop is pretty dang secure because it houses our blind rooster, Walter AKA Walt or Walt Walt (that has no idea he's a rooster) and our bantam hens.
Well this evening my husband was almost bitten in the face by the culprit...a snake, just as we had thought. Thankfully the snake was twisted up in the net we have over the coop to keep the free range peafowl out since they stress Walt Walt out.
Tomorrow the girls will get a few more eggs and one of them will hatch one baby in a short time and the other will hatch out the rest and have her babies...Sometimes nature pi**es me off...
Pic of the eggs the girls will get more of tomorrow since I posted a pic of a ☠️🐍 a few weeks ago and suddenly our page because unrecommended and we had to figure out what in the FB world we did wrong.

It's been a rough week here on the farm and it's only Wednesday 😭 Lots of tears have been shed.
We lost our largest BLRW rooster that we were so excited to see after his first molt and one of our sweet Silverudd's Blue hens on the same day. Then the next day our Buff Orpington hen that I planned to use as a special project bird and yesterday one of our Lemon Cuckoo Orpington hens. This heat is horrible!!
We also had to make the decision yesterday to take one of our gilts to the processor. She came up suddenly lame in her left back leg and we waited 2 weeks nursing and babying her to see if she could heal but it became apparent that it was not going to heal and we had to put her quality of life first. Thankfully we have the best processors and they were able to make space for her and are helping to make her last night on Earth the most comfortable and stress-free that it can be. Yes, we do raise our animals for food but that was never her intended purpose so many, many tears have been shed and tears as still being shed as I type this out. I say all that to say that even if you do everything right, things happen and those are the times when you need a processor who is going to care just as much about the animals you're bringing them as you do. If you're in South Arkansas, Christies Processing LLC is who you need!

SAVE OF THE DAY!! ❤️🥚🦚
We came out of the laser shop to finally call it a night and heard a peahen honking...unusual and worrisome... so we started looking. And boy am I glad we did!!
We literally saved 2 eggs from a snake and protected 3 more. And of course I candled them since the opportunity arose and all 5 eggs are growing babies...even the 2 we saved...live babies moving about in the eggs!!
Happy to report that both mamas are back on their eggs!
And yes, I cut the snake open and retrieved the eggs!!

This peachick was stuck in its egg yesterday and had to get some shoes today to straighten out its toes.
It's sooooo tired! Hopefully the shoes can come off tomorrow evening or Thursday. It usually only takes 24-48 hours.
