I’m very excited about both of these litters. I really think these pairings will complement one another beautifully, and I’m especially looking forward to seeing what the fur is like on the Rex litter. Made You Look has the density, and Sterling has the slightly better texture I’m needing. This is of course assuming these gals take. But it’s a promising sign when this is the first time they’ve decided to lift in at least a couple months!

Now there’s potentially 4 litters due within the next month, with one possibly coming tomorrow or the next day - that litter would likely be all reds unless Cupid carries self, in which case black torts might be a thing.

I’ve realized I haven’t posted much Cupid content lately. The simple reason behind that is I’m trying to not let myself stay too attached. I -knew- when I kept this buck back that he was the runt, but wanted to believe he’d get there eventually. He’s almost 9 months old and just barely over 5 pounds. I am going to attempt to get one or two litters out of him with decent sized does and then that will be the end of that. That is mainly why I decided to bring Man of Steel home this past weekend.

For reference, if you’re not familiar with the Rex standard, minimum weight for senior bucks is 7 1/2 pounds, and for does it is 8 pounds.

I know some have asked me what I use for pedigree programs. While that answer has been a combination of Evans (computer only) and Who’s Due (app only - I don’t like their pedigrees though 😅), HerdMaster looks to be the best of both worlds and seems to have everything you could want in a rabbit tracking program! It is finally live, and currently will only work on iPhones and iPads - with updates coming eventually for Android and I think eventually PC. Go check it out! 14 day free trial on it as well.

This has got to be one of the cuddliest (combined) litters we’ve had here. Every time I go out there of a day they’re all draped over top of each other, sunbathing if it’s the right time of day for it to come in the building.

The Silver Marten kit is from West Penn Violet (black) x Timberrose’s Viper (black/seal). The himalayan Rex kit is from KKH’s Claire Burns (black tort) x Harengon’s Sully (blue). Claire decided she didn’t have to take care of her babies after she birthed them so Violet happily took them on along with her own.

These Britannia Petites are such entertaining little guys. Phyllis here doesn’t want me touching her, but also wants to be all up in my business at all hours of the day. She’s not mean by any stretch of the imagination, just doesn’t know me quite yet. We’ll get there! Meanwhile Cu will come right up to the front for forehead touches. Not scratches, I’m just allowed to lightly poke his forehead and then he backs off if I try anything else. They are so much higher energy than the other breeds we have here. Energy level wise I’d say from high to low it’s Britannia Petite, Czech Frosty, Silver Marten, and then the Rex and the Pixie Rex project are about the same.

I can’t wait for Bob (chocolate himalayan) to get here to complete our (currently) reverse trio of Brits.

Phyllis is a blue himalayan. She’s already about maximum senior weight as a junior, so she will be strictly a brood doe.

Some were not as keen to work with me as others on pictures today, but here are the new additions! All Rex!

GC Woods Mill’s Fishstick, broken castor Sr buck
Fish carries self, chocolate, and dilute, so he will be putting in some serious work on the chocolate front! He has 19 show legs to date. Despite him heavily molting (he was porcupine-esque before I started grooming him) I can really tell how nice that fur is!

Beach Bunny’s Man of Steel, red Sr buck
This guy probably carries otter (if not otter, then self) as he is out of a fox doe, but I don’t mind that one bit. He is currently GC eligible and will have the stuff sent in to complete that once his legs are received. He’s really a stunning buck and I’m also a fan of his fur - it should even out my coarser does.

KKH’s DQ, blue brindle Sr doe
Already a favorite of my fiancé as she’s proficient at knocking things off of tables (super glad the pop can was empty), this gal is here to help me with fur and hindquarter width. She was wanting to lean a whole lot today so I don’t feel I truly got the best pose of her. That brindling on her is lovely, ignoring the face split. Unsure if she carries nonextension, but if not all of her offspring will so that’s perfectly fine.

ROR’s Lucy, red Sr doe
I -know- I didn’t get the greatest shots of this doe. She was very unhappy with me 😅. She carries dilute so will be great in making fawns for us as well as reds. She’s just starting to molt so ignore the coat. Her hind end is phenomenal and I’m excited to get some kits out of her. She also apparently has 3 show legs of her own according to her pedigree.

I took absolutely zero photos today, but we’re finally home from the Blue Ridge show! My show team of so. Freaking. Many. Reds. did about what I expected them to. Of the 4 does I took, 2 of the 3 judges placed them how I had them in my head. And they were a big fan of Psycho, who I wish would’ve finished molting before the show but she just couldn’t push that old coat out fast enough. She managed best opposite of variety in all three shows.

I do have -several- new additions. One of which was not planned whatsoever. I will introduce once this rain quits, I got home to my yard being rather underwater (all is fine, we just had so much mud already that it has nowhere to go). These rabbits are all absolutely phenomenal seniors who should help out tremendously with my Rex goals in both the self/chocolate/himi and red programs. Two are GC or pending GC. Another apparently has 3 legs herself that I wasn’t aware of til I peeked at the pedigree. And the other is not a (fully) showable variety.

2027 Convention will now be in Wisconsin instead of South Carolina. Not sure at this point if I’ll be attending or not.

This doe is just continuing to look better with age. While I’m thrilled I finally get to show her after her brother gave her a hideous haircut, I’m getting impatient to get her bred. Still at least a couple months to go before that can happen. I anticipate her loin will fill in more by the time she hits senior if she follows the patterns her sire took. She’s steadily growing.

She’ll be one of the main gals I have that can make fawns for Convention next year. Picking another gal up Saturday that is -also- an absolutely stunning red and can make fawns, and she’s already a senior so could be paired up sooner.
