The farm is a riot in September and we, as the farmers, are just along for the ride ✨
Sure, we mow a row down here, sow some seed there, but the magic is in letting all these flowers bloom until their time comes. You really cannot argue when the bumble bees choose the old zinnia patch to congregate and gather pollen in. Same goes when the migrating monarchs join us on their way down South 🦋
Even when the seasons are hard, and each season brings its own flavor of hard, September can't be argued with and it's a relief 🌸
We invite our CSA members out to the farm each September, and we savor the weeks that stretch out at the end of a long season. We've been in the greenhouse since March + planting out since April!

Saying farewell to August and dipping our toes into September on the farm ✨

🏵️ Watching summer crops fade and swapping their space over for fall cover crops
🌻 Anticipating our "grand finales" of this season: dahlias, tunnel celosia, the last few rows of sunflowers
🧡 Doing my absolute best to accept our growing spaces as they are- perhaps a lil' grassy or overgrown in spots- after a summer of drought and fluctuating growing conditions

Good morning from our magical lil' flower farm ✨

We grow about an acre of flowers between our fields + tunnels on our homestead outside of Milaca, MN. August is peak field magic time with lots of crops in bloom- celosia, sunflowers + zinnias are running the show these days 🏵️

Our bouquets are sold at Linden Hills Farmers Market, Flour & Flower + at our farmstand each Friday during the growing season. We also have a summer CSA program for folks who want to enjoy the full season of flowers with us! 💐

The farm in August ✨
So much to take in during a walk through the field these days- the zinnias and celosia coming into their own, the amaranth growing tall, all the butterflies big and small 🦋
Mid summer and early fall crops grow + bloom unhurried, unlike the June and July crops that I highly anticipate for market + CSA bouquets. They get the luxury of my knowing they take months to grow, so they get my patience.
We are so lucky to live + grow + love here. Thank you for following along through each season here 💓

The gentle rain and the cooler weather are the best pick me up for us as farmers! Our bouquets today are about as gorgeous as can be- plum sunflowers, lisianthus and truly all the fixings. It's a beautiful day for a lil' country drive out to our farmstand ✨
