The flowers are taking their dang time blooming these days- I can't really tell you what the stall is all about. In my farmer brain this creates a story told in three parts -
We've been farming here for nine years and I'd like to think I make a decent crop plan + stick with it, for the most part. This time last year I had stock coming out of my ears- this year the first stock bloom to the party is pictured above. Seeds started + plants planted on the same timeline, and the weather hasn't been remarkably different in my opinion. But here I am, still waiting. It's a little disappointing, to wait, but...
I remind myself, this is why our Flower CSA kicks off at the end of June! Abundance ahead, for our nearest and dearest supporters of the farm! Stock and snapdragon party magic galore. I'm setting my sights + my heart on this vision ๐ฉท
Finally, on one of my daily walks surveying the farm this week (it's a daily occurrence I'll turn to Eric and say "I gotta go walk"), I was reminded of baby farmer me, and my vision for this place in 2017. It was basically โจ the dream โจ to imagine three high tunnels and well, now we have four. I imagined bigger harvests, sure, and a more extended growing season than those first few years, but whew, not all of what we have today! Back then, waiting on any flush of flowers in June would have been miracle territory. What we are building here, on our lil' farm, is much bigger than me waiting for flowers in the middle of June in the year 2026.
So, enjoy the wait with me, enjoy the baptisia + other bits + bobs we've got blooming in the meantime, and let's get to the good stuff, all in good time ๐
