Turkeys have been released from their brooder and can go out in the ‘yard’. Some take to it faster than others. Now to see if they figure out how to go up the ramp.
We’ll be at OH and Coupeville Markets this week. Hope to see you there!

Sunday morning-June 14, 2026
Going to be a hot one. To everyone out in the heat today, hydration is the key. Shade is your friend. Carry your own, if you can. Thank you.
We’ll be watering newly planted seeds. Going to stand back and watch them blast out of the ground. Everybody stay safe. Be cool.

The turkeys are growing. They have been moved out of the house and into the special brooder Mike made for turkeys several years back. It has a raised enclosed ‘house’ for easy access when feeding and giving them water. Screened floor for droppings, and as they grow, a side door that can be opened to a ramp so they can get down to forage for grass and bugs in a protective mesh fenced area. They’ll spend about a month in this brooder before going into a larger pen where they can strut their stuff and grow into adulthood. That’s how we do it.

Our turkey chicks arrived on Wednesday from Ohio via the USPS. These newly hatched birds come out of their eggs with 3 days of nutritional reserves. 3 days to learn to eat and drink on their own. They are doing well. Getting plenty of chickweed that we purposely left growing just for them. They love it. Makes them grow big and healthy. We’re looking forward to being thankful.
