Harrell Wines from a pure and unadulterated love for wine. Being one of the very few African American women wine owners in the industry, I truly appreciate how wine culture so seamlessly intertwines people from all walks of life and bonds them in laughter, joy, and openness, while dissolving all barriers to genuine connection and relationship. As my specialty, I am creating blends that reflect my
own complex and rich life experiences, as well as those of the fascinating people I have been fortunate to meet along the way. Creativity is central to my daily life: I have pursued my social, travel, and entertainment interests quite passionately, and similarly, these blends highlight the boldness, excitement, and intricacies of my journey. Please pardon our delay in releasing the wines on the dates initially promised. It has taken us longer than anticipated to get the wine blends just right, but we are now moving forward quickly! One of the first wines to be released, “315,” will ring familiar to those who have known me my entire life. This wine is named after my childhood home, 315 Santa Ana Avenue in San Francisco, California--a magical melting pot of family, friends, laughter and mutual support. While enjoying many visitors in my family home, I formed exceptional friendships and strengthened family bonds that continue to nourish me and fuel the pursuit of my passion: crafting beautiful wines. "315" will be a full-bodied, savory, fruit-forward Zinfandel blend with layers of vanilla, cinnamon and spice! Indeed this will be a classic Dry Creek Zinfandel, with truly unique flavors folded in, to create an experience as rich and fulfilling as those days on Santa Ana Avenue. The Riesling, “940,” is a tribute to my family’s legacy, its dedication to community, cultural heritage, and one another. “940” is named after our property at 940 Haight Street also in San Francisco, California. My father and grandmother built this property from the ground up and it was the cornerstone of their business.
“Haight Street” is a dry Riesling with distinctive flavors of stone and passion fruits. It is fresh and light with citric tones, lemon grass, slate, and hints of honeydew. This Riesling carriers soft floral notes and a perfumed character amid its mild lemon rind finish. Paula J. Harrell
