Wow what a week. August has been a hard one. We could use some rain. Yes we drip but nothing beats a good rainfall. This praying mantras my friend today while watering the lilies. Over the last few days it has been feeling a little bit more like fall in the evenings.

I can’t believe we are in mid August. The summer has really flown by. I did manage to go swimming this summer as last summer it never made the list. I have eaten the juiciest Maine peach and let it run down my chin. Lots still to check off so it probably won’t all be accomplished. The flowers are stellar this week. Lots of my favorites amaranth, zinnias, lisianthus and cosmos to name a few. I hope you have checked something fun off your summer list.

Well it a hot one my friends. Make sure to take plenty of water breaks and get out of the sun if you are working outside today. This is our mountain mint patch just covered in pollinators.

I am glad this day is over. Although the gladiolus are pretty spectacular this year. It has been a couple of crazy days of pest pressure and split apple trees. I was pretty displeased with the split in my sweet sixteen. No issues must have just been weak. Looking forward to a spectacular Wednesday.

It is August and I am not sure how that happened. The zinnias have started in full force. I have five successions for all you zinnia lovers. I am particularly smitten with Johnny's Selected Seeds ballerina zinnia. I cannot wait for the linen zinnia to bloom. My toes and fingers are crossed for rain. In July we only had an inch for the entire month. Yes we drip but we still need rain.

Happy Sunday. Wow today was gorgeous even with the wind. What’s on deck this week are rose lilies. These beauties are scented and the sleeves are marked for anyone that is not a fan of fragrance. These will drop at the tiller and rye in the morning. We will have a couple of weeks with these beauties. I have just returned from a very brief trip to the county. It has been years since I have seen the potatoes in blossom. Over the next few weeks we will cycle through everyone’s vacation. Even farmers need a break.

Happy fourth of July from some tired farmers. In all seriousness hope everyone is enjoying a weekend full of time with loved ones. It’s time to kick up our feet and remember what makes America great. I will probably be dipping my toes in the water at some point.

Happy Thursday my flower friends. I am quite smitten with these Calla Lilies. They even match my farm overalls. In all seriousness they are perfection for the eye. There will be a small amount tomorrow at the Tiller and Rye. Let us know what you think of them!

Happy Monday. The rain is slowly falling this morning. It is so dry outside. We have been extremely busy this week picking peonies (many times a day), planting, seeding and laying drip tape. The stock is just starting but reminds me of a rainbow of colors in its bed. It is one of my favorite spring flowers. The clove scent gets me every time.
