I’m skipping at present. The sweet peas have taken off. If only it would warm up we would have lift off. They start out on the shorter side and stretch as we pick. Fingers and toes crossed that I do not have to continue wearing a wool hat while working.

Happy 79th birthday to my dad Dennis. He’s still farming most days . You may have seen him out delivering this morning. He’s the master at fixing drip tape problems. He quietly goes about getting lots of work done without out much praise but it is always noticed. I am hoping he has a lovely break in county this weekend. I think he has also gotten his quota of pie this week.

We planted four beds today of lisianthus in the high tunnel. We have one more bed to plant but I want the lisianthus to grow a little larger before they are planted. I purchase our lisianthus as plugs as they are slow growers. Once we receive them in the spring I bump them up and they have an extended stay in the greenhouse. We should be enjoying these blooms in August, September and October. Looks like we should be in for a beautiful stretch of weather.

Friendly reminder my friends. Did you happen to buy seedlings over the last few weeks. Remember tonight there’s a frost warning so bring them in. If you planted them already some old sheets might just do the trick. I know it’s a pain. I feel you I am getting a little tired of covering plants myself.

Wow thank you for a fabulous Mother’s Day weekend. My cooler is practically empty and I am speechless. This picture is from the first Mother’s Day at Paint Box. Thankfully I made more than ten bouquets this year. This week will be a catch up week with planting and getting caught up on loads of emails. Again enjoy your flowers and thank you for supporting local.

Happy Friday from the Paint Box team. Lots of graduation & Mother’s Day Bouquets & arrangements are available for you this weekend. We are loaded with lots of tempting lovelies for you. While you’re there pick up a handful of items for that special someone. I scored some fiddleheads today. While picking up your bake goods pick up@a bunch of tulips. While doing your grocery shopping you might sn**ch a bunch of tulips. If you’re in Orono doing some plant shopping you might just score a bunch . We love that you trust us with your special occasions and will be busy tomorrow delivering and making more bouquets for you.

Happy Wednesday from a super busy group of farmers. At the end of last week we finished our rose plantings in the new rose tunnel. Can’t wait to see how these beauties do. We have a few extra spots that we will need to fill next year. I’m already dreaming of the sweet fragrance to come when walking by.

Happy Tuesday! I have an inability to sleep this time of year as there just so much to be done. So I have been reflecting on the farm. Coming right up will be our seventh year anniversary. It seems to have passed in a blink of an eye. In all honesty it wasn’t till this past winter that it really clicked that I was a farmer. I wouldn’t trade it most days. It is dirty, gritty and constantly being able to pivot. I am looking forward to this year and more to come. Hope you enjoyed the sun.
