Eggstra Eggstra! Read all about it!
Molting season is upon us which means fewer eggs as our hard working gals put their energy into shedding old feathers and growing new ones. In addition, daylight is becoming less and less as winter approaches during which most chickens don't lay eggs either. A hen's brain literally needs a certain amount of sunlight to activate her egg laying hormones. Some chicken tenders (a person who takes care of chickens) place artificial light in their coops to stimulate egg production - a practice that we do not utilize on our homestead. We allow our chickens to have the well deserved break that they need so that they remain healthy and happy.
If you find that we don't have eggs available for purchase, please allow us and our hens grace and understanding. ♥️
