Hey all,

I am in need of some volunteers for my show the 10/11 of October.

I just need a couple of people for Saturday (the 10th) in the afternoon and Sunday I need a scribe, some rings stewards and fence judges.

If you can help it would be greatly appreciated—I’ll feed you lunch and offer a cold beverage at the end of the day.

Feeling low that the season is coming to an end and you’re low on funds to go to a show at the Kentucky Horse Park?

Come to the Come Again Farm Fall Harvest derby and/or Mini trials!

We run full, to standard courses, have a judge you’ll find at recognized shows, nice volunteers, permanent stabling on grounds and a really low key, fun, welcoming experience.

It’s affordable, you can do one day or both. If you have an issue on XC we let you skip the fence and continue.

The goal is to have everyone come away more confident and have a great time.

One of these days flights are going to be on time for both legs of a clinic.

This was not that weekend…

Poor Sharon got delayed on her 5:30 departure from Dulles to here Friday and arrived about 12:30, which made for a short night by the time we got back to my place. That’s better than camp, when she didn’t get here until the next day, I guess!

Anyhoo, a little reshuffling of ride times gave us an extra hour sleep in the AM and the rest of the day went great. All the horses and riders got great help with footwork, adjustability and steering challenges. I think even the green as grass group jumped the Liverpool. 😁 (despite some wide rider eyes I don’t think any of the horses cared much).

Sunday dawned as a rare perfect clinic day, cool, sunny and with enough of a light breeze to keep the bugs at bay. Saturday’s downpour made the footing nearly perfect and it was a great day for all.

I’m so lucky that I have great people come here to teach. I’m also so pleased to see that we’ve had some absolutely GREAT kids come to clinics and camps this summer. I’ve been worried about the decline of young people in our sport for a while, but this gives me hope that maybe we are seeing an upswing. I sure hope they keep coming here and that they stay in the sport.

And as a bonus we got to watch some of Burghley on the replay Saturday night. Because after a day of horses who doesn’t need more beautiful, athletic horses?

Today we have a schooling day and next weekend we have a schooling show, then it’s on to our final show of the year with our mini trials and derby October 10/11th.
