It is with great sadness we mourn the loss of another Cleveland Italian institution. Ferarra's has gone dark for the last time. Many would say we should revel in one of our competitors going out of business, but honestly nothing could be further from the truth. There was a time in the cultural history of our city that the population supported dozens of Italian grocers and importers. There were enough people who understood and participated in the food and traditions of Italy that we all prospered and shared that wonderful experience at home with our families, and with folks from all backgrounds all over our diverse and beautiful city. It weighs heavily on our hearts to see another vanguard of that era shut its doors. To Johnny Ferrara and his family, thank you for your years of dedication and expertise you gave to this business. Your family's store set the standard high, and challenged our family to raise the bar and work in unison to meet the needs of our community at large. Ferrara's commitment to excellent service, delicious food, quality, and old world traditions will be sorely missed. We at Gallucci's humbly hope to continue to fill that need for Cleveland, and wish the Ferrara family and customers all the best in the future. Johnny have an amazing retirement, you have certainly earned it. Centanni!
