It's planting season! Get your plant starts, raised here on the SAHC Community Farm! Blazing Star Flowers will be at HerbFest this weekend - WNC Ag Center, 761 Boylston Hwy, Fletcher 28732. Free workshops, parking & admission.

They'll have have over 100 varieties of organically raised herb & flower plant starts, and 13 varieties of dahlias - as tubers & in pots. Be sure to stop by while you're shopping! Suzanne will be set up outside near the food trucks.

Relax, breathe in, and soak in the sunset views during a special Gentle Flow Yoga session at the SAHC Community Farm on Sunday, October 26 from 5 to 6 pm. Led by SAHC Outreach Program Manager Erin Goodpaster, a certified 200 hr yoga instructor - practicing yoga since 2015, this gentle 60 minute yoga session is suitable for beginners as well as experienced students. Afterward, we'll enjoy some fall refreshments. FREE for SAHC members, $10 for non-members.

Coming up THIS WEEKEND! Fire Safety and Land Management Workshop on Saturday Oct. 11 at SAHC Community Farm from 10 am to 1 pm. Southern Appalachian Highlands Conservancy is partnering with Blue Ridge Resource Conservation and Development, Mountain Valleys Resource Conservation & Development, Carolina Land and Lakes RC&D, Piedmont PBA, and N.C. Forest Service to host this special workshop.

YOU are invited! This workshop/training will be appropriate for EVERYONE in the WNC region - from small lot homeowners to landowners of large forest tracts and farmers.

Learn about firewise basics, homeowner risk assessments, information about prescribed fire as a land management strategy, forest management at the SAHC Community Farm, landscape-scale wildlife preparedness, and more. We will have training and discussion time in the Education and Event building at the farm as well as a walk on the property.

The workshop is open and FREE to everyone, but pre-registration is required and lunch will be provided. The registration form closes on FRIDAY morning at 10 am.
