It’s hard to get really good individual photos of them because they are so in-your-pocket, but I can get photos upon request.

I love these little girls and planned to retain them, however my focus is shifting more toward my horses/mules.

We said goodbye to a good one last night.

Rain came into my life in 2018 alongside her nearly blind mule friend, and from the very beginning I knew she was special.

She gave us so many adventures and memories. Over the years, she taught countless kids (and a few adults) how to ride, how to be confident around horses, and how special a good horse can be. She was also the very first horse my husband ever rode, and the horse he began learning farrier work with.

On our very first solo ride together, we rode right past a family of black bears on the trail. In the winters, she willingly pulled a makeshift toboggan sled. A few years ago, she even joined us on a pony search-and-rescue ride. I could hop on her ba****ck anytime, anywhere, and trust her completely. She was always steady, willing, and reliable.

It’s such a privilege to watch a horse grow old, but it is certainly bittersweet.
