I unfortunately left Billy out on his run last night and fell asleep, Billy is typically a very quiet dog but last night he obviously became very upset that he wasn’t laying in bed with his mom (me) and started to bark. Billy was brought inside and curled up in bed and not another peep was heard from him.

For any of our neighbors that lost any sleep due to this Billy and his mom (me) want to sincerely apologize. As a mom of three humans, three dogs and lots of goats I understand the importance of sleep and hate to think we are the reason some of you are unable to get a good nights sleep!

I also want to apologize in advance for the next few weeks where we might have a few rowdy goats as they start to go into heat. And Artemis (dog) who is doing her job by barking at any creatures when she is outside. She is just making sure to keep all of our gardens and livestock safe in this part of the neighborhood 🩷

The good new is, we should be moving in a month or less and all the animals are coming with us! In the meantime if you could just bear with us for a little bit longer we promise to be out of your hair and to stop messing with your sleep!
Although I can’t offer you anything at the moment due to some unforeseen circumstances that caused us to stop cheese production early this year, I am more than happy to offer you all a little goody bag of cheese once we get up and running next year to thank you all for putting up with us. Just shoot me a message 🧀

I also wanted to clear up a few assumptions made in a voicemail I was left around midnight last night.

• our dog does not have separation anxiety, he was just mad he wasn’t in bed (creature of habit)

• we have owned Billy for 6 years. Our newest dog was brought here last winter. We have not added a dog in the past 30 days.

• our dogs are very happy

• I have lived here my whole life (27 years) and we have always had dogs as well as many of our neighbors. I’m not sure why it is assumed that now in this past month I have turned our “once quiet neighborhood” into something other than that.

Last week I decided we could probably pull off another show, so I signed up for the Acton fair! Unfortunately my whole house decided to get sick, me included, yesterday. I was hoping we could still pull it off with some stuffy noses but by last night I had two human kids with fevers and I felt like death 😩

It looks like whatever curse I have around shows this year is continuing. No matter what, it seems like after I sign up for a show something goes horribly wrong. On top of that one of my homebred does I planned on bringing has a horrible eye injury and we are thinking she will most likely be blind in one eye for the rest of her life (of course it’s on her show side) 🙃

So a sick day at the new house, with lots of energy drinks, Tylenol and Terramycin(for the goat of course 🐐)

I had to look up “precocious udder” on google because I suck a✨✨ at spelling and found out it’s also called “maiden milk” or “witch’s milk” which I thought was cool, because witch’s are cool 🧙‍♀️

Anyways, Vinny seems to have developed an udder despite never being bred before. She was born January of this year and was going to be a dry yearling next year but she most likely has earned herself a spot on the breeding list now.

A precocious udder - A precocious udder (also called a maiden milker) is a condition where a young female goat develops an enlarged udder and starts producing milk without ever being bred, pregnant, or exposed to a buck.

This can happen due to
• hormones
• genetics

I’m taking it as a sign that she’s going to have a giant udder like her aunty 👀

We got a whole room in the new house walled in yesterday! We also are getting prepared to list the house we are currently in on the market. We are thinking of possibly moving in by the end of September!

We are currently running very low on funds for the rest of the house so Greg has been collecting messed up and imperfect pieces of pine where he can and with the help of family and friends we were able to finish a whole room for some hotdogs and hamburgers 🩷

A huge thank you to Donna and Tony at Yeti Ridge Farm who took the time yesterday to come out, complete this room with us, and teach us what we need to be doing so we can finish the rest of the house on our own. I’m so thankful for meeting such wonderful people through our crazy goat hobbies 🐐

Tonight I was reminded that Alpines can jump over anything 🙃

She was wonderful company for the rest of my nighttime chores though! Which I love to have because I am slightly terrified of the dark (plus I think we have a ghost that lives in our front yard 😬)
