I finally got around to the tote that had the National Show awards in it today. I added them to the cabinet that holds the previous year's pottery. There are two pieces from 1991 in there. I have a metal piece that sits on my table that we received from WY in 2013 (I think?) Along with 2 or 3 others. They didn't give pottery that year. Not a bad collection.

Lani's dam was purchased for Ava as a kid, when she was sold to the Earnest family, I requested to please allow me to purchase back a doe kid. That was honored with Lani. Lani has been 2x shown as a dry yearling and 2x Jr Champion. She traveled to Massachusetts with the herd and placed 4th of 58, with 1st Youth. That youth placing was later removed as a complaint was given to the Youth Chair and National Show Chair because Ava didn't show Lani entirely by herself. Her sister was in the ring and at the end of a very long class, took the collar. As we had seen this done before, even assisted other youth, we didn't think it was a problem, or breaking of a rule. However, those youth awards to some adults mean a lot...so, our 9 yr old child didn't get to stand in the grand championship lineup for youth with one of only two goats that are owned by her. We don't transfer every animal in her name. Just another bitter experience to ponder.

Verity is our stylish Alpine yearling milker. She was shown in both rings of the Bourbon and Bluegrass show and was 2x 1st. We love the mammary, general appearance, and dairiness on this young doe.

She will be bred to Marran Remembrance Recall this fall.

We can came home with a new finished champion this weekend!

CH(PENDING) Shady Lawn A Banana Daiquiri was 2x GCH 2x BOB at the Bourbon and Bluegrass show in Harrodsburg.

A late introduction, but we welcomed GCH Kara Kahl Handy Annie LA 4-06 VEEE 91, DHIA was over 3500 lbs (I need to get that completed record from KK).

Annie is a doe that I have long admired. In fact, she earned a leg under me! I bid on her 2024 Spotlight Sale daughter, but alas~~she was not in my budget. Though she turned out beautifully for her lucky buyer! I told Emily Thompson that if she ever parted with Annie, that I would love to add her here at Shady Lawn. This spring I got that call!

Annie is on a milk through and considering she moved from her lifelong herd in a torrential down pour, into a larger herd, her going dry would have been completely understandable. Instead she has moved in like this is her home and milking a consistent 8lbs!

Breeding plans are to AI Annie to Marran RR Rock Star with a backup to Marran Remembrance Recall.

I said we were done kidding in 2026, well...that was before we tried to syncing a few does for fall kiddings. Low and behold two settled! Both Sables!

The first is Klisse's TSP Hadassah https://genetics.adga.org/GoatDetail.aspx?RegNumber=C002396239

Hadassah is a littermate sister to the 1st place 2yr old at 2026 Nationals, CH Klisse's TSCP Malka owned by Cresent Ridge Farm Angel Kwak McPherson) Hadassah recently joined our farm, many thanks to Donna Bondora! She will be a 1st freshening 2yr old.

Hadassah is bred to Talache's Hezekiah, who is the sire to our 2026 Reserve National Jr Champion Ravyin. Due the end of October!
