Michael Shaps Wineworks is Virginia's largest custom contract winemaking operation, with a total production reaching 30,000 cases per year with over a dozen clients. Known for his innovation in the industry, Michael introduced the "bag in a box" wine to Virginia wine consumers and now also has a refillable wine growler. Michael owns a winery in Burgundy, France (www.maisonshaps.com) and imports them to the United States, where they are sold throughout Virginia and in the Tasting Room at Michael Shaps Wineworks.

Three w**es. Three Gold Medals. 🥇🥇🥇

We’re proud to share that three Michael Shaps w**es earned Gold Medals in the 2026 Atlantic Seaboard W**e Association W**e Competition:

🥇 2023 Petit Verdot
🥇 2023 Honah Lee Vineyard Petit Manseng
🥇 2023 Wild Meadow Vineyard Chardonnay

The annual ASWA competition brings together w**es from across the eastern United States, with this year’s competition featuring 389 entries judged by a panel of 12 w**e professionals.

We’re honored to see these three Virginia w**es recognized among the best of the East Coast. Cheers to our vineyard partners, w**emaking team, and everyone who had a hand in bringing them from vineyard to bottle. 🍷
