Happy Friday, Farm Family!
We are deep in the middle of a heat wave, and it feels like everything takes a little extra effort this time of year. Much of our focus has been on keeping crops irrigated, cooled, and thriving through the intense temperatures.
Unfortunately, we lost about 70% of our tomatillo and ground cherry crop to deer activity last night, along with some damage to our eggplant and peppers. We're already working on a solution and expect to stay on track for a great harvest later this season.
On a more positive note, we're excited to share that we successfully covered 100% of our blueberry field with netting for the first time ever! We're now working on fencing from the ground up to meet the netting from the top down, creating full protection for this year's crop.
Our team (so incredibly grateful for these humans who support this mission) has been hard at work w**ding, harvesting, prepping new beds, maintaining trellising, and seeding succession crops to keep the harvests coming.
