If you scroll through our page, you’ll notice that political stances aren’t part of our usual routine. But, this hits too close to home not to address. I was full of both excitement and frustration when I saw this post yesterday.
Let’s start with the good news.. we are so excited to have jumped on board with VPGC at the beginning of such a great investment in our local agricultural community! It makes us proud to grow for an organization who values their producers and works hard to give us the resources we need to provide great product to our customers. Change is never an easy thing, but we feel confident we made the right choice with VPGC.
But on the flip side, isn’t it awful serendipitous that Governor Spanberger would show up to a high steaks AG event the week before an election that stands to essentially disenfranchise farmers in The Valley? The proposed redistricting map would split Augusta County into three separate congressional districts taking our small constituent share of about 10% down to less than 4%. We already have a small voice, but we have our best chance of being heard because our congressional district encompasses a large portion of farms in the Valley. Our community faces issues that are very different from Charlottesville and Lynchburg, who would be our new district cohorts. We hope if you value your friends and neighbors, many of whom are farmers, you’ll join us in voting NO on April 21.
Here is the link to the VPAP, a great nonpartisan source, site with information about the redistricting proposal. You can even plug in your address to see how the proposed new districts would affect you. https://www.vpap.org/redistricting/2026/
Thank you to Governor Abigail Spanberger, her cabinet, and members of the state and local government for joining us to break ground on this exciting project! We are thrilled to begin a new chapter of growth supporting agriculture here in the Shenandoah Valley and the Commonwealth of Virginia!
