THIS is going to be something great to be a part of šŸ¤™ 🐽

You’ve gathered around our tables for years, and this October, we’re inviting you to join us for an entirely new one.

On October 9, Meraki Hospitality Group and Indiana Grown are bringing the Whole Hog Invitational to Bulldog Park—a new culinary competition celebrating Indiana agriculture, regional chefs, and the relationships connecting our farms, restaurants, and communities.

Five Northwest Indiana chefs will take on the challenge, each creating an original dish featuring heritage pork from Howe Farms alongside ingredients sourced from Indiana producers:

Ramen District | Crown Point — Chef Nick Idarraga
Tavern on Main Craft Bar and Eatery | Crown Point — Chef Matt Stewart
Lincoln & Wicker | Schererville — Chef Jay Ruff
Bon Vie | Hobart — Chef Caesar Cicala
Burn 'Em Brewing | Michigan City — Chef Blake Murray

You’ll taste all five competition dishes, cast your vote, and help crown the inaugural Whole Hog Champion. Beyond the competition, the evening will feature the Indiana Grown Farmers’ Market, live music, family-friendly activities, local food and more.

Tickets are officially on sale—but this is only the beginning.

Whole Hog Invitational also gives us the perfect opportunity to introduce the new Meraki page, where we’re bringing together the restaurants, events, people, partnerships, and stories that make up Meraki. Follow the new Meraki Hospitality Group page to stay connected as we count down to October 9 and for your chance to win Whole Hog tickets this week. šŸŽŠ

You can also join At The Table, our Meraki email newsletter, at merakihg.com to be first to hear event announcements, ticket news, and more from across the Meraki family.

Friday, October 9 | 5–10 pm

With our farm stand closed for the first time in nearly a decade this weekend, we’re taking a moment to recognize the incredible wholesale partners who help make what we do at Howe Farms possible.

One of the greatest gifts of farming has been the relationships we’ve built along the way—from restaurant owners and talented chefs who thoughtfully serve our meats to local businesses that help bring soy-free, pasture-raised beef and pork to their communities. Your belief in our family farm allows us to keep caring for our animals, nurturing our land and raising food the way we believe it should be raised. We are sincerely grateful for each of you.

If you’re able, please show these wonderful establishments some love—and let them know Steve sent ya!

Burn 'Em Brewing
Smugglers Coffee
Provecho Latin Provisions
Ramen District
SUGO Italian Kitchen
Lighthouse Restaurant
Fuzzyline Brewing Co.
Country Nutrition of Indiana
Perkins' Good Earth Farm

Please note that some locations may still be navigating storm-related closures or supply challenges. We encourage you to check directly with each business for current hours and availability.

For the first time in more than seven years, the Howe Farms farm stand will be closed this coming weekend. ā¤ļø

While closing our doors for a weekend feels a little strange, the reason behind it is something we are incredibly grateful for. Because of your continued support and belief in what we are doing here at Howe Farms, our beef inventory is extremely low and our pork inventory is essentially sold out. To every family who has chosen to put our pasture-raised meats on their table — thank you. It means more to our family than we can put into words.

At the same time, we are now seven days and counting without power following last week’s storms. Life on a farm without electricity comes with challenges that go far beyond keeping the lights on. No power means no running water and no electric fencing, making the daily care and management of our animals on pasture much more difficult. We’re making it work, one chore and one day at a time.

Between the continued power outage and our limited inventory, we feel this is the right weekend to keep the farm stand closed, focus on the farm and our animals, and give our family a little time to regroup.

We hope you all understand, and more than anything, we hope you know how thankful we are for this community. You continue to support our family, believe in our mission and choose to know where your food comes from.

We’ll get through this together, and we look forward to opening the farm stand doors again soon. ā¤ļøšŸŒ¾

We know so many families throughout our area are still picking up the pieces after this week’s storms. Whether you’re without power, cleaning up property damage, replacing food that was lost, or dealing with a little bit of everything, please know our hearts are with you. ā¤ļø

Like many of our neighbors, the Howe Farms family is still without power too. We’re incredibly thankful to have backup generators keeping our walk-in freezer and farm stand running, which means all of our pasture-raised beef and pork has remained safely frozen and no product was lost.

Through it all, the farm stand is OPEN this Friday and Saturday from 8am–5pm at 14091 Grand Blvd, Crown Point, IN 46307.

Times like these remind us just how important it is to look out for one another. Check on your neighbors, lend a hand where you can, give each other a little extra grace, and remember—we’ll get through this together.

One family, one neighbor, one day at a time. ā¤ļø

Our weekly farm stand menu is here, filled with pasture-raised beef and pork to help keep your family’s freezer stocked and meals on the table. ā¤ļø

Like many of you, our family is still without power, but we remain hopeful it will be restored soon. Either way, the farm stand will be open Friday and Saturday from 8 AM to 5 PM.

Here’s to a weekend of rebuilding, restocking and helping our community get back on its feet—one day at a time. We hope to see you at the farm! šŸšœšŸ„©šŸ„“

There’s something special about using every part of what the farm provides. Our beef tallow is made from our pasture-raised cattle and is a traditional homestead staple with so many uses around the kitchen and home.

A few ways to use it:

• Frying eggs, potatoes and vegetables
• Searing steaks and other meats
• Baking flaky biscuits and pie crusts
• Seasoning cast-iron cookware
• Making homemade soaps and skincare products

Simple, useful and thoughtfully raised right here at Howe Farms. Pick up a container during this weekend’s farm stand! 🌿
