Nysa Vineyard

Nysa Vineyard Nysa Vineyard sits at 600-720 feet elevation in the Dundee Hills of Oregon's northern Willamette Valley. Vinification is done with a minimalist approach.

Nysa Vineyard is a hidden gem in Oregon’s Dundee Hills, crafting limited-production Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Sparkling wine from our sustainably-farmed estate vineyard.

21+ please enjoy responsibly The vineyard spans 40 acres of volcanic Jory soil with basalt bedrock 8 to 12 feet below the surface. The high percentage of clay combines with soil depth to hold moisture late into the season, permitting dry farming. We planted the first nine acres in 1990 to own-rooted Pommard and Wadenswil Pinot noir. In 2000, we planted four acres of phyloxera-resistant rootstock grafted to the 115 Dijon clone, with an additional nine acres of Pommard on resistant rootstock planted after 2004. We will cultivate 33 acres total, allowing production of no more than 3500-4500 cases per vintage. After hand-sorting Pinot noir clusters for optimum quality, 80-100% destemmed berries, with 0-20% whole clusters depending on the vintage, undergo five to seven days of a cold soak prior to fermentation, which is induced with moderately vigorous yeast. Peak temperatures during the 10-14 day fermentation reach no more than 92° F with one to two punch-down regimes per day, depending on tannic structure. Fermentations are lightly pressed and racked to settling tanks for two days and then gently transferred to 25% new French oak barrels. Malolactic fermentation, when tart malic acid is converted to softer-tasting lactic acid, usually completes in February or March and an additional six months in barrel allows for a final integration of flavor.

We’ve been waiting all year for this! 🍇🍷

This past week we brought in our Chardonnay and the majority of our Pinot Noir to process and start fermenting. These next few weeks we’ll watch and nurture the gift that Mother Nature provided.

Harvest is right around the corner, but we had to sneak in a last minute bottling before the grapes start coming in.

Happy National Pinot Noir Day! 🍇🍷

Few places are as naturally suited to Pinot Noir as the Dundee Hills of Oregon’s Willamette Valley.

The combination of volcanic soils, elevation, cool temperatures, and a long, gentle growing season creates the ideal conditions for Pinot Noir to develop its signature balance of bright acidity, elegant structure, ripe fruit, and earthy complexity.

Here at Nysa Vineyard, Pinot Noir is more than a grape. It’s a reflection of place, bringing its own character, shaped by the soil, elevation, exposure and the people who care for the vines.

Raise a glass today to Pinot Noir and the remarkable place the makes it possible. 🍷
