Carpenter Creek Ranch

Carpenter Creek Ranch We’re a small, family-run farm raising mini dairy goats, mini cows, and more with care. Forest Grove, OR.
(1)

We offer hands-on farm experiences and seasonal events that connect people to animals, food, and the land—where memories are made and learning grows. We are best known for raising mini cows, a micro goat dairy of mini andfulllamanchas. We offer baby goat cuddle sessions in the spring, farm camp in the summer, a unique pumpkin patch in the fall, and mini cow cuddles year round.

Nobody talks enough about the mental load of running a farm.

Not the big stuff like hay, kidding, or vet bills…

I mean the constant, low-level awareness of everything.

Like how I can walk outside and instantly clock:
• which goat might be thinking about getting sick
• which fence probably needs attention soon
• which animal is due for something I forgot to write down

It’s like your brain never fully shuts off.

You’re always tracking:
Water levels. Feed. Weather. Breeding dates. Who’s acting weird. What’s running low. What’s about to break.

And the wild part?

It all lives in your head.

Not in a planner.
Not in an app.

Just… floating around in mental sticky notes.

You’ll be in the middle of doing one chore and suddenly think:
“Wait—did I latch that gate this morning?”

And now you have to go check.

Because if you don’t…
That’s the day something goes wrong.

And sure, from the outside it might just look like:
“Feeding animals” or “doing chores”

But really it’s:
• decision making
• problem solving
• anticipating issues before they happen
• and about 100 tiny responsibilities stacked on top of each other

Every single day.

It’s not glamorous.
It’s not aesthetic.

But it is constant.

And if you’re doing it too—keeping track of a million little things, making it all work, holding it all together…

I see you.

Even if nobody else notices how much is actually going on behind the scenes.

But why is all the news about Raw Milk so negative?

Liability (and Advertisers) Are Louder Than Curiosity

Imagine being a media outlet and saying: “Some studies show correlations between X and Y…”

Now imagine: one angry comment, one scary headline, one lawyer clearing their throat 😬⚖️ — and, oh yeah, the people paying the bills really prefer you don’t stir the pot.

Big pharma dominates advertising on most news networks and streaming platforms. That means, intentionally or not, stories that challenge conventional narratives (like raw milk, small farms, or alternative nutrition) get muted.

Much safer to say nothing at all. Much easier to only report the worst-case stories. Much less paperwork that way.

It’s not always about the evidence — sometimes it’s about avoiding headaches and keeping the lights on.

Don't come at me with those fighting words. I have way too many babies to feed and does to milk right now to deal with you too!
