Can you see the difference?

Even the roof on the left side is brighter after building and painting the last coop doors. I took out the wood panels from the first coop and we painted more of the 2x4’s throughout. Still more to paint, but it is amazing how much the white changes the brightness of the lighting. The cost of the paint is 🫣🫣, but I really prefer the brightness. So lovely. More is happening on Saturday!! Praying for much to get accomplished🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

There is a difference when we back cross to a blue gene or a dark brown gene or straight across to another multi-gen olive.
Next year I will be breeding my F4 Olive Eggers and backcrossing them! I cannot wait to see the egg colors!!!

I have decided on my silkie breeding colors for next year so I am letting go of my buff silkies. I have four cuties. They are very sweet. I do not know their s*x. They are about 2 months old now and off heat. I am willing to sell 2 and 2 or all four together.

The money I have saved Chickie Fam!! It is amazing what we can actually build with pallet wood. All of my nesting box doors are framed with pallet wood as well as my run doors and my coop doors. Little windows will also be framed with pallet wood and painted to waterproof. Speaking of which…I am almost out of my five gallon bucket of paint🫨🫨🫨🫨. Paint is expensive!!!😂😂

Has anyone else used pallet wood for their chicken projects or any other DIY?

I bought 4 cuckoo silkies for a premium price.

Did I get any pullets? No

Am I upset with the breeder? No

What are my options now? I will be writing a blog post on this soon!!

Straight run is straight run Chickie Fam! For you and for me. Silkies are notoriously impossible to s*x, so I am not surprised. I thought I had one pullet, but they are all crowing this morning😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

This morning I awoke to at least 6 baby cockerels giving it their best🤗🤗🤗 Can’t wait to see how these boys feather out!

*My Blue Heavenly Jewel™️ started crowing and is available. Feathered legs and a beautiful head with pea comb. He will be big!! He is about 8 weeks old now. For those who have been wanting a younger cockerel for your pullets, this would be the one to integrate😊

*I have a solid steel Blue Marans “BB King”who is a year old now. He is ready to lead his own flock and is a very sweet boy.

*I am making my beautiful Splash Multi-Gen Olive Egger “Hermes” available. He is an in your pocket rooster and is wonderful with the ladies. I have seen some of his offspring and his Splash feathering is passed down regularly. He is also a year old.

For those who have seen Skylar(Heavenly Seaflower™️), I am not making him available at this time. I want to see if he matures light blue or if he gets darker blue feathering before I decide.

My mature boys have had time with me under their belt. They know their job and they are good at it. They both have roosted outside the coops and have lasted four seasons (including high winds, rain, and snow!!😱) Their resilience has been impressive. Hermes does roost inside with his hens, but BB has the option to roost inside or outside and he has been roosting on top of the coop where I have elevated roosting bars under a tree. He is exceptional!
