I am sorry for the delay in the update on Lazarus. I have looking for the words and this is a hard one.
When we found him Friday before last and he was nearly passed, we went to the emergancy vet. We did everything they told us to do, including using this milk replacer. Lazarus got stronger. He was standing, walking, growing and soaking up all the love, until last Wed when he wasn't.
This food killed my baby. (To be fair, any of the multi species formulas would have done the same thing)
These foods are not good for long term feeding. They are not formulated to correctly be able to support all species. In alpacas, it will send them into salt toxicity. He went into seizures, Purdue tried to help him, he died overnight while he was there.
Less than a week after getting him up and going, he went downhill in a matter of hours.
All I cam think is that he knew so much love while he was here.
Please, PLEASE, If you have to bottle feed a baby, order species specific replacer. If you need something until it comes in, raw cow or goat milk are good temporary options. I should have questioned the first vet, I didn't. I followed the directions blindly... and my Lazarus paid for it. My heart is broken.
