I love spring on the farm! I wouldn’t miss it for anything.
Today’s job was raking out some dead stuff and weeding and adding manure to asparagus bed and sifting compost!
FYI: I must have taken out 40 of those plastic labels that appear on individual items of fruit …you know the country of origjn labels… while interesting info … they do not biodegrade -not one bit!
So another reason to buy from a local farmer this season… you know who grew it and think of the plastic you’re saving!
But you got to admire those tough eggshells!
I use this compost for my flower boxes and pots.

Thank you to everyone who visited our family farm on Maple Weekend 2026!
A wonderful spring time event! (Even though it was a little cold with some snowflakes on Sunday. ) …The hugs and smiles and shared stories were bright spots in our day indeed!
And thank you to our crew who made the event a good one for all!
Today the sap ran and since I could take a break from making maple products I went with Larry on a sap run. Hauled a full load back with “The Blue Truck” and soon it will be more delicious maple syrup!

Sometimes you work with a batch of syrup and it is over-the-top wonderful to work with! It makes maple cream! It even makes dry sugar (I mixed it with a little dark robust!) now just for the labels! Hey… are the pans, syrup barrels and stirring equipment getting heavier or an I getting weaker? It seemed like a good work out lugging everything to and fro… I’ll chalk it up to winter sapping my strength.
