Rotten hen is FINALLY laying again!

I don’t want to jinx it by saying something— it’s been a very difficult year with birds — however…

I am loooving what I am growing out from my Range Tux Celedons this season.

They’re biig, they have good heads, nice strong legs, strong wings and full breast.

This was one of the lines that I had crooked backs (like scoliosis) and very short backs in some of my early generations. I despise short spines, because it destroys the topline and the bird never looks strong or quite right.

Anyway, enjoy this pretty lady!

the **other** red sexlink recessive.

Unlike range, scarlet, egyptian, & autumn amber, all fancy names for roux-dilute varieties, “ginger” coturnix are named from the gene. I’d like to think we’ve evolved as ambassadors, but there are definitely mixed feelings on the topic.

Ginger is Roux’s orange cousin, with a stronger dilute. Lighter, brighter, and lightens more of the bird. If you have any ginger extended browns, check the feet and beaks for diution. It’s quite pretty. Gingers will not have any black or dark brown feathers.

Isabel Ameraucana pullet. She’s a little lackluster in the beard and muffs, but I suspect feather plucking, since this is so common with them.

Vigor is my highest breeding priority with these guys right now, followed by heads and tails as my focus. I think this little pullet will fill out very nice.

I adore Tuxedo pattern faces.

Range Tuxedo *Celadon* (juv/POL hen)

Tuxedo (heterozygous dotted white) is compatible with most other colors, but it hasn’t been as popular in recent years. I think we may see a trend of rediscovering with it in 2027.
