Growout spotlight:

Isabel Ameraucana (cockerel)

I feel like I talk about these guys a lot, and it’s because they are a literal realized dream come true for me. I’m straightup giddy about them all the time, every time I see them.

I am liking the way this guy is growing out. The tails on my birds from Eight Acres are phenomenal. Anyway, enjoy, and please let me know if you have any questions about them!

What’s in the brooder Wednesday?!

The flat and frizzled bantam Salmon Faverolles of course!

Now that they are a little older, I can confirm two boys and five girls. I like those numbers! Both cockerels are flat feathered and most of the pullets are frizzled. I can work with that! NFS.

What are my plans with them?

1. SOP breeding
2. Exhibition, just for fun!
2. a special project I'll tell you about when I'm ready to show you all too!

A little more information on our extended brown Coturnix quail. In my pinned post about Coturnix, I list all of the color varieties we have available this year, and likely into next. It’s difficult to fit all the information that could be relevant in one post. I am working on a website, but I’m never not busy, so there isn’t a timeline on it. I have Tibetans (homozygous extended brown without dilutes) in two breeding groups. One group is just Tibetans (homozygous EB), without dilutes or additional pattern mutations (to the best of my knowledge). The other group is Tibetan + dilutes Blue, Fee, Myrle, Ginger, and Andalusian. Please let me know if you have questions.

Growout Spotlight:

Splash Easter Egger (cockerel).

Do you think he’s cute or does the leakage hurt your brain? I’m undecided, so I’m going to see how it grows out on him as well as pullets.

He has such a nice temperament, which isn’t a surprise, him being the son of my Blue EE hens with their curious and friendly manner.

Growout Spotlight:

The Blue Copper Marans

If you’ve followed a while you know that Marans are not “my” breed. But I’m very pleased with these young’ens and excited to see how it goes.

They have a very pleasant temperament so far and I’m growing out a bunch of them (some are BCM). I’m not sure if I’ll keep them breed true or just work on dark eggs, but they are coming along beautifully.
