There was spirited bidding on an incredibly diverse selection of w**es including w**es from a number of New Zealand producers as well as white and red Burgundy, German Riesling, Barolo, Bordeaux and Port. We are happy to be returning strong results to our vendors with 13% of our sales selling at or above (and sometimes significantly above) our high estimates.

Our successes are not just about big name bottles, in fact we pride ourselves on delivering strong results to our vendors regardless of the w**es they choose to sell.

Because we're preparing our September Post-Auction & Markets Report we thought we'd take a moment to reflect on some unassuming w**es that generated strong returns for our vendors, illustrating that w**es don't need to be highly allocated, First Growths or Grand Crus to deliver strong results on the secondary market.

Here are three recent vintages from respected producers that sold via The W**e Auction Room in September delivering positive results to our vendors and a delicious bottle of w**e to the buyers.

It might be time to spring clean your cellar! If you find something that you're not likely to drink (lets face it, our tastes change) then get in touch with us about placing it in an upcoming auction.

While classic Red Burgundy (all Pinot Noir) form the backbone of our final Burgundy & Beyond Single Vendor Auction it is important not to overlook the fantastic white w**es (mostly Chardonnay but some Aligote) in the auction.

Secondary market demand for White Burgundy has gone from strength to strength in the last year both here in international markers and here in NZ with these movements helping Burgundy overtake Bordeaux sales multiple times over the last months. Liv-Ex describes this as “a structural shift, not a seasonal trend" with demand for white Burgundy being relatively strong across price points and a wide selection of producers.

In this auction we have some fantastic w**es, both from big names but also less-well-known speciality producers. Starting in the Cote Chalonnaise we have multiple vintages of Bouzeron Blanc (Aligote) from the acclaimed A.P. de Villaine (of Domaine Romanee Conti fame); likewise we also have some Maconnais w**es from Guffens-Heynen a truly wonderful producer was described at a "65 year old enfant terrible" whose w**es “withstand comparison with the finest white burgundies” by Jancis Robinson. Next comes Chablis with w**es from two iconic producers: Vincent Dauvissat and Francois Raveneau. From the Cote d'Or we have a number of producers but no fewer than 16 lots from Domaine Roulot, one of the true icons of the regions.

We also have w**es from Jacques Carillon, Henri Boillot, Blain Gagnard, Domaine de la Vougeraie, Pierre Morey and more.

We are proud to announce that our 6th and final auction in our Burgundy & Beyond Singles Vendor series is now live! This auction features w**es from over 40 different producers including multiple lots from some of Burgundy's best: J.F. Mugnier, Comte-Liger Belair, Armand Rosseau, de Vogüé, Roulot and many more.

All of these w**es come from a single, temperature controlled cellar and this auction features a number of acclaimed recent vintages: 2005, 2010, 2015 and 2019.

It also features prestige cuvée Ch*****ne, Riesling from Alsace and Germany, Bordeaux and a handful of Jura w**es.
