🥔 A greenhouse treasure hunt! ➡️

The crew harvested our first new potatoes of the season! Larissa, Sam, Curtis, Madeline, Brendan (and Abigail) helped fill the crates with these rosy-red gems planted back in late winter.

For those who remember last year's spring potatoes: Baltic Rose potatoes are back!! 🥔✨

Badger Flame beets are one of the 3 varieties in our rainbow beet bunches this season, alongside classic reds and chioggias. Every time we harvest and wash these beauties, we have a whole discussion about the color of food. 🎨

Developed by Row 7 Seed Company Badger Flame was bred with flavor in mind. It's sweet, mild, and less earthy than traditional beets, making it a favorite for beet lovers and skeptics alike.

Farmer Curtis is pretty proud of this garlic.

For the past two winters, we've been experimenting with growing garlic in the greenhouse, giving us early scapes and beautiful early bulbs. This purple-striped variety has quickly become a farm favorite and a stunner at our farmers' market booths 🤩

An evening walk around the farm☀️

1. Curtis enjoying a kohlrabi snack in the greenhouse next to one of this year's sweet corn experiments. 😏

2. Out in the field, recently planted corn is growing for our Three Sisters plot - future cornmeal and polenta!

3. And under the caterpillar tunnel, baby greens and freshly planted beans are settling in with Hortanova netting waiting to support their climb.

Every corner of the farm is growing into summer 💛

One of the farmers’ favorite sights each spring. 🌸🌾

Our overwintered cover crops are in full bloom — crimson clover popping with color, rye waving in the breeze, and peas flowering throughout the mix.

Cover crops do so much more than look beautiful. They protect and enrich the soil, feed pollinators, build organic matter, hold nutrients in place, and help prepare the fields for the season ahead. A quiet but important part of caring for the farm. 💚
